I remember reading an interview of John Felice from the Real Kids where he said their aim was to destroy Elton John.
BTW, as far a Rock'n'roll is concerned, the Real Kids were much closer to the bone than sir Elton.
Now, if MS wants to really do us a favor, they'd go for :
Worksforsure
or better : "Writesforsure" to ensure maximum compatibility betwen office suites ( MS Office, StarOffice, KOffice, whatever...)
It is hard to describe this product in a neutral way because it is without a shadow of a doubt the worst netgear product, if not the worst "Network related" product ever produced.
Too bad my best friend bought one.
(It ceased working about 1 month ago, BTW:-( )
Is the day I had to :
- take screenshots ( every 5 seconds ) while using a web-based AS400 terminal emulator without having to use the PrintScreen key of my keyboard
- resize the image by cropping only the AS400 emulator zone
- delete the duplicate pictures
- change the colors in the pictures so that black->while , yellow-> blue ; green->red, etc...
while keeping the image readable.
- add some comments at the bottom of each image
It was really easy using Perl::Win32 and Perl::Magick modules.
I wonder if you can find other languages to perform the same task....
See this pdf document

"REXX is a procedure language (IBMspeak for scripting
language) popular in the IBM mainframe world. It is simple
to use, powerful enough to do the job, and well suited to
the type of processing done within OnWeb. REXX is
OnWeb's "native" language, and OnWeb contains its own
built-in REXX interpreter."
About 4 or 5 years ago, the "Academie Francaise" ( ie "The French Academy" a society of about 40 french writers who decide what words must be use in correct french language) stated that the most valid french translation for "E-Mail" was "Mel"
(with an accent) which doesn't get pronounced exactly like the english word "mail" but, well, almost. They got heavily criticized for that and some people argued that "Courriel" which was used in Quebec was far better. (which, I think, is true).
Nowadays, the french state ( which is NOT the "Academie Francaise") choses to use the word "Courriel" at last.
We're just 4 years late.
Our canadian cousins were true.
1 - Does the fact that their webpage is translated only in spanish and portuguese mean that MS or any related company is concerned mainly about linux/OSS gaining market shares in latin america?
2 - are they going to behave like SCO did and terminate their Linux certification ?
(BTW, what's this certification worth? is it better than RHCE or LPI?)
I don't agree..... You ( and I) can write ( and use )perl scripts.... Suzy the secretary doesn't have a clue about perl but she sure knows the Trash can/Recycle Bin/whatever-you-call-it that's been on her desktop for years.........
1 - As a record collector, I must say I've been ripped off by the music industry for aeons... I have up to 500 vinyl LPs and 500 CDs, not mentioning the singles, tapes,etc... so I don't give a flying fsck about downloading any files from anybody...
2 - thinking globally, ripping old vinyl records as mp3s is a good idea because it makes a huge backup of the entire world's music thus allowing the most rare or unfindable records not to disappear.
3 - It reminds me of a time where some record labels used to put on the record sleeve a logo saying:
"HOME TAPING IS ILLEGAL AND IT KILLS MUSIC"
Eventually, a punk/new-wave label issued a record out with quite the same logo which said:
"HOME WANKING IS ILLEGAL AND IT KILLS PROSTITUTION"
which well describes the core of the problem given the huge number of corporate whores among today's artists.

In case you need a smaller, Knoppix based, distro : Damn Small Linux is much smaller and is very good as a system rescue tool too.

Bill Gates would never have written a teenage anthem as definitive and sacramental as "Satisfaction" anyways
