I call bullshit, the current state of affairs is woeful. Currently my tax dollars are subsidising internet filtering software for families who go out and buy it and the government is considering banning another 200 "obscene" internet sites. We currently have a list of banned sites on the net that we aren't even allowed to see. Computer games don't have an R rating so sex in games is right out.
Currently if I have any material that would be refused classification on my website the ABA could issue a takedown notice to my ISP. Stuff that would not be rated in australia would include S&M, Golden Showers and Fisting. Not exactly mainstream porn but certainly not a tiny minority. All that does is mean Australian web hosting companies lose money to US based ones.
These are all stupid measures put in place to make sure the Family First religious nut-job senitors vote with the liberal party, and to get the religious vote for the liberal party itself.
It's a bit harder then that. Whilst you could probably make a p2p program appear like skype does protocol wise, analysis of the traffic patterns of a skype conferance look very much like normal activity whereas a p2p program connects to many different hosts and generally hogs bandwidth and is therefore easier to spot.
Are you kidding? What would be the point of the US going to war if they couldn't bitchslap a country for decades after the actual war by hobbling children. You're clearly an unpatriotic communist, now stare at this picture of Saddam and shout at it for 2 minutes.
What exactly do we need to be on guard for? Are the images going to jump out of the screen and attack us?
If anyone at all needs to be on guard it is hosting companies but to say that every user should be keeping a constant eye out for child porn is just stupid.
This is an honest question, I'm not trying to be a troll here but seriously... Is SUSE really relevant anymore? I mean this may be a case of I don't use it so no one must but I don't know anyone who is using it, or has even tried it. What is its "killer app"?
I could be way off base here, but isn't the whole point of the Wine project not to produce a windows emulator but libraries that can be substituted for the Windows libraries your program is using to allow it to easily run on linux? If so I'd say Picasa is a shining example of the Wine projects maturity
Yeah its kinda freaky. Like Americans students reciting the pledge of allegance every morning. Seriously what's up with that? and people don't even realise why people from other countries find that a little strange/scary.
That is exactly right. Take Mortal Kombat, those games are fun but I'd lose interest eventually if it wasn't for the massive amount of unlockable content and hidden areas. I love getting a mortal kombat game and knowing that what I can play now is just the tip of the iceburg.
My theory is that it may actually fall, because people who would otherwise be torrenting stuff will turn off their bandwidth hogging torrents to watch the cup.
Yes in this context the "World Cup" is actually inviting the "World" to attend, unlike the US version of "World" where sometimes, if they are lucky, Canadians are invited.
Transport tycoon is fun to this day, and with OpenTTD its only funner. The scope for track design is amazing and if you were ever into toy trains then this is the ultimate. There are always challenges you can set yourself, you could for instance only use ships. Or limit yourself entirely to passenger cargo.
Lisa: Now next week is our "state of the city" address. Has everyone finished their proposals. Comic Book Guy: Well first of all I've a plan to eliminate obesity in women. Lyndsey Nagle: Oh please, for a nickel-a-person tax increase we could build a theatre for shadow puppets. Dr. Hibbert: Balinese or Thai? Lyndsey Nagle: Why not both, then everybody's happy. Comic Book Guy: Oh yeah, everyone's real happy then. Lyndsey Nagle: Do I detect a note of sarcasm? Professor Frink: (With sarcasm detector) Are you kidding? This baby is off he charts mm-hai. Comic Book Guy: A sarcasm detector, that's a real useful invention. (Sarcasm detector explodes)
Also you'll need to copy and paste that link http://frogbert.host.sk/turkeyslap.asf

And recording it no less.

Well given that skype is a European company I don't think US laws will make a lick of difference to them.
Thats the point, the video card fan shouldn't be the noisiest fan in a system, unfortunately a X1900XTX fan is.
Care to put it on sourceforge?
Well perhaps but wouldn't a big field of mines all chatting together make locating a single mine quite difficult to locate?

I noticed on the site that Digg seems to be banning QJ.net links from making it to the front page. Does anyone here know why this is?
Once again proving that terrorist attacks will always result in a shitty government being elected.

If you don't like my broad generalisations it doesn't matter, because you all suck anyway.

2.6.16! You're crazy. I'm still holding back on 2.4.10 until the dust settles.

Real programmers use "type".

No it means the Inquirer is the digital equlivant of a rag.
I like it, I can learn to love it but for gods sake please bring back the "Click here to read more" link.

The scope of that game is amazing.

And you get a really powerful magnet out of it!
