I absolutely abhor "Program Files" as a directory name. I install all my programs (that are nice enough to ask) in a different directory just so I never have to type "progra~1" or pro[tab] or any other such nonsense.
Sometimes, Mr Gates, I have to pass my programs paramaters and the easiest way to do that is to alt-tab to my (always running) dos box and type the command there. Your putting a space in these directory names has made my life harder.
They don't want your business.

Find another vendor that wants to trade your money for their CRT monitors.
Season 1 DVD of Battlestar Galactica: 50 quid. DVD player that will play UK DVDs: 20 quid (guess). Plane ticket to London: 500 quid. Seeing Season 1 of BSG before season 2 comes out: Priceless.
I missed season 1, but should be able to catch season 2 on TV. Too bad season 1's not coming out on DVD until (apparently) after season 2 starts. Really, do they realize the benefits of releasing a DVD of a seson of a television show BEFORE the next season starts?
*It's not like Slashdot is a printed publication that just *has* to fill this and that many pages each day, no matter whether there's actually news or not.*
They are largely supported by advertisements, though, and not putting up news stories on holidays, especially holidays observed in America where most of their readers live, would cut down their hits. Plus, the link's nice and I hadn't seen it before.
While I agree with the author's frustrations, I think his complaints are a bit vague and airy.
Do you really think the game programmers of the world are sitting there, reading this article, and smacking their foreheads? "Oh! They want BETTER artificial intelligence! Damn it, why didn't they say that before!? And they want ORIGINAL games. Thankfully, I have all these original ideas for games that nobody has ever though of before!"
So, Internet Explorer is no longer free, to get a secure Microsoft Browser (Yeah, I'm making a few assumptions here, but let's just live in the hypothetical word for a moment) I have to buy a new version of the OS? Or I can get a secure version of Netscape (That they call Firefox these days) for free. I wonder what I'll choose.

When you put it that way, I don't know why it wasn't this simple the whole time!
I thought that Trojans were programs that pretended to be something legit but weren't. Other than finding them and putting them in a list of programs to delete in a virus scanner, is there a way to be "secure" with these? If the company you are tailoring these trojans to runs Linux, aren't you, as the evil terrorist hacker, going to tailor the trojan to run on Linux? Send 90% of the CEOs out there an email that says 'click here for a free iPod!' and we all know what they're going to do, whether they run Windows, Linux, or OS X.
If you want to keep it, back it up as many times and as frequently as you feel is necessary. For me, for my music, this means having it on two hard drives and a lot of it burned to CD.
Do I plan on using these hard drives for 40 years? Of course not. If something better comes along I'll convert what I have now to the new format (Like how mp3s came along and replaced CDs for me, I converted the CDs that I liked to mp3). I'll do this as many times as is necessary until I kick the bucket, hopefully a bit more than 40 years from now.
Have you ever played one of those games in a bar where you have to touch the area of the screen where the picture (usually of a scantily--if at all--clad woman) is different from the picture beside it? Even with practice it can be hard to do quickly and accurately if the diferences are minor.
As much as I love the MS hating, come on, what does he remove the spyware with, debug?
This sound like a joke, and until he man comes to my house and tells me this to my face, I'll not believe him. An hour. Seriously? I don't know if I've spent an hour/total/ removing spyware.
I just realized, from reading comments here, that it's not pronounced 'Bloggey-brites' but instead 'blog-eb-ri-ties'.
That's sad. Not my not knowing the word, the word itself. It was bad enough when it was a nonsense word 100%, now that it means.... THAT... it's even worse.
Well, yours doesn't either, but that's now what I was talking about.
Give me a list of blog sites with a recap of their content and let me decide if I like them. A/B/C categorizing of how "good" they are does me no good whatsoever.
And please call them something else. 'Blog' is one of the few words I hate more than 'Podcasting'
Hear hear!

You do know that it's possible to edit wikipedia articles after they're linked to from slashdot?
Edit the article, remove the offending remark, and you're all set. Well, not really, you may need to do it 30 times or so.
Go to povray.org and install the program.
Then go to help, and select pov-ray help (not windows help).
The first few chapters are a fanTAStic tutorial.
