Hello, the NN law we are talking about also puts a freeze on CLASS OF SERVICE, something my customers are screaming they need for thier IPVPNs. Obviously that is NOT on the public internet, but it would seem to make sense, if a carrier is going to invest the money in thier infrastructure to support that for private networks, it should also be available to public networks.
If you understand how CoS works, you will relize that turning that on a public network will have little or no affect on 99.999% of the hosts connected to that network. This is law for the sake of law, and certainly not going to protect google or vonage from anything. It could concievably make it MORE difficult for them to do business, as the carriers begin to oversubscribe thier infrastructure more, lack of effective CoS will put vonage out of business.
Do you really think Vonage can make a case that the cable company has to buy more Public Internet access because Vonage's application doesnt work right over thier network? Aint gonna happen!
It HAS to be the US government, because GW MUST be the scape goat to all that is evil in the world, in order for the bunch that didn't vote for him to feel important and 'validated'.
The same folks that are all for democracy, as long as they win? Poor loosers... sad, really.
The reason some people were reporting it that way was simple. In 2000, some people made a big deal out of the fact that Bush won more electoral votes than Gore, but actually didn't not have a mojority of popular votes. This time he did...
Heh, You have a stagnent society when some nut guns down a school yard, and instead of punishing someone with existing law, the populous ignores the law, and clamers for a 'new' law so they can feel they have 'done' something about it..
Heh, Thank you for repeating exactly what I said... The word I got is you had to be out of area for a CBS station broadcasting HD, and they would let you access it (I'm in Houston, so I had to go OTA for the Super Bowl)
The new sats are gonna be AWSUME, enough transponder bandwidth for several hundred HD channels... of course, that will not change the fact that NOTHING IS ON!!!
I disagree... The only reason you need 'primarys' for the major partys, is because they have more than one candidate vying for one spot.
The state is given the responsibility of overseeing the 'fairness' of the count, expressing the will of the people in this case. (protecting them from the party bosses as it were).
Just because you participate in a primary doesn't mean your vote is cast for a specific candidate for the job of President. Some states have selected candidates for the democratic party slot that will not get that Party's support for the job.
ANYONE can run for president. and a registered voter can VOTE for anyone, you can even write in someone's name if you realy want to...
I believe Mickey Mouse regularly gets votes in all 50 states.

Saw this on HDNet... very very very cool.. I esp like the lady with the leads out of both sides of the back of her head....
Have to back you up on the 'it wasn't just me' thing... I was able to explain away getting laid off from a LARGE company by explaining that company had been in the midst of a HUGE layoff... I survived until the tail end of it. All in All, over 60k of the original 90k employees were let go...
This was seen as an overwhelming positive.
The 14 months of 'time off' I had afterwards was easily masked by various 'consulting' projects I did to 1) pay the bills and 2) keep my skills sharp.
Thanks so much for promoting a culture where it's okay to lie! Lack of personal responsibity made it seem like we were all rich and deficit free, when in reality, we were living off of lies and decit...
Used to be in a mall here, I still have my 'membership' card from back in the day...
Ahh, memorys...

yea, I got passed by one of those at LSPR in 2001... of course, I was driving a 50HP pickup truck at the time (it was down by about half it's HP due to the secondary in the carb being stuck closed:( )
Where they AWD? or just turbo FWD...
I'm thinking there were Turbo Colts as well (another fine Mitsubishi/DSM product)

"Before the WRX was released"... You must be joking, in the US we have had the Mistubishi Eclipse/Eagle Talon since 1990... As well as the Galant VR4, the 3000GT VR4/Stealth. The formula should look familiar, Turbo 4,(or twin turbo 6 for the 3kgt/stealth) AWD, awsome potential. Many daily driven Eclipses are easily making double the HP they came with from the factory.
Subaru was a late comer in the US, and I look forward to seeing people thrash them here, but there is already a great wealth of experience in extracting insane amounts of power from small engines here, thank you very much!
The IP disclousure I last signed gave me the chance to list things that I was already working on, and wanted excluded from the 'give it all to the company' part of the contract.
The HR folks asked me to come up after I signed it, and asked some questions about the stuff I had listed (2 pages worth of detailed projects that I had going at the time), and were very pleased I had given them such a nice list of things they COULD NOT have.
Hahahaa.. Don't you know, it's easier to whine about how you got corn-cobbed by the evil bush admin, than it is to shift your focus? IT used to be about dynamic solutions to difficult problems, but the whiners we hear EVERY DAMN DAY make it sound like some part of our lucrative field has been turned into 'McJobs'... which are rightfully going to the lowest bidder in India...
1) Ignore those who say there are no jobs in the market. This is simply not true.
2) Provide a unique service/slant towards what you do. The problem with many IT types is they lack of a systematic way of dealing with their network/PC gear. You would be amazed at the folks I have seen who run a few hundred machines literly by the seat of their pants. Nothing is written down, nothing is documented, the guy calls it 'job security' but it results in a real LOSS to his company at the bottom line, measured in downtime for the people who actually do work for the company.
Your age and experience in a 'real' field of profesional service will provide a great basis for a carreer in IT managment/Consulting.
3) Network! You know a lot of doctors. Docs are the BEST customers, because they are professionals. They will respect your ability, pay you, and stand back. You could concievably hit the ground running with your current circle of professional contacts, and never look back.
4) Laugh all the way to the bank and wonder how anyone could outsource a job that requires physical presence...
too funny, since SCO's claims are based on owning AT&T s original Unix, which FreeBSD was specificly created to be 'Free' from... The 'Free' in FreeBsd was to indicate it is 'Free' of licensing issues.

directv has good HD coverage, they are even adding 'big three' HD support (alrady have CBS)
Does no one remeber PHOTON? Damn that game was so cool...
I did that too, that just happened to be the excuse of the day...
Did it for an ISP that was a customer of my ISP... I had 2 of my jr. engineers in the room...
I milked it for about 5 minutes before I fessed up, and we all had a good laugh (including the guy we were helping)
I stand corrected! This is what I get for being broadly general :)

Rarely do ATMs use ATM networks...
I will 2nd that... of course, I also managed to get a decent education before I dropped out due to lack of funding... :)
