in the 25th century, the 14.2.22 kernel is used in the warp drive controller. Linus' frozen head was the lead developer on the warp engine software. You didn't think you could get from here to the other side of the galaxy on Windows did you?:)
and the dialog was retarded. obviously if it was "the best sci-fi show ever" it would last. But you see... you are in a small minority of people who think it was worth the paper it was written on.
i was about to say the same thing... slashdot is getting a bit rediculous in the last few days. What with posting stories about strange quarks 3 times a day, putting BeOS stuff in the BSD section and now they are not even reading the things they link to. They must be using the blind monkey method of approving stories lately.
It makes the images look better. I expanded the terminal full screen, then I made the font a monotype and made it very small with the command keys to shrink the font size.
Eventually I could make out butters' mom painting over his face.
One of our developers machines locked up. He rebooted and there was a bunch of garbled text where it was trying to detect the IDE drives. Nothing would fix it. I tried the drive in other machines and nothing got it back up. So the guy had to recode everything he had been working on for the last few hours after I got a new drive installed for him.
Then one day I got called out to a client site. They had a Linux server I installed for them. They said it was locking up. I told them to power it off and bring it back up. They did that. I SSH'd into the machine and it locked up about 30 seconds in. I told them to reboot it again and it wouldn't come up. They said "it is printing some really weird stuff on the screen." I dropped everything and headed over there. It was the same exact problem. I couldn't get the data off the drive. No bios would accept it. I noticed it was the exact same model. It was a 9.1 gig IDE drive by Fujitsu.
Needless to say, as a person with a lot of influence on what my clients buy, they never buy Fujitsu ANYTHING anymore.
Today the Microsoft board of directors approved a resolution that would give Balmer the OK to go in with military force if needed. Bill Gates was quoted as saying, "The actions of this PR consultant are frightening. We have to prevent things like this from ever happening again. Even though we caught her, we believe that she will continue to try and pass herself off as a switcher. Therefore I have given Steve full authority to use our Nukes."
The US Government will not comment on their support for Microsoft but have made a blanket statement that anything Microsoft does in its own interest is its right. They recognize the sovereignty of Redmond.
More news at 11.
I know it isn't a good solution but if you HAVE to have net access in the boonies, maybe that would work for you. I have no idea if it would work, but it may be something worth trying.
I totally agree. This show was a total piece of crap. I was very underwhelmed but i stuck it through and caught the show after it, John Doe. That one was excellent. I really liked it. But yeah I don't see Firefly lasting more than a few weeks. Very poor scripting. Corny lines. Boring. It was like some really stupid glimpse of a future that returns us to the wild west or something. yawn.
that was the most boring show i have ever seen. A bunch of stupid little radio controlled buckets of steel hitting each other. Oh my the drama. I would rather sit and stare at a wall. Or watch fletch...
I saw this on a site in 1998. Or some similar technology. I thought it would be a neat idea but it is kind of odd to see it brought up like it is news today, 4 years later.
There are other Linux distributions that are built with the LSB in mind that are not made by the red machine. Why would going away from RedHat be a good thing for United Linux? I would run from RedHat right to Mandrake.:)
Kinda seems odd to come out with a new version of the game and keep the version number the same. Has GTA3 become what everyone associates with the Grand Theft Auto series and they don't want to chance having someone go "What is GTA4?". Seems sort of like Intel and their whole Pentium branding. Pent = 5. Yet they kept the name through the 6x86 line. It is odd that version numbers become the product's name eventually when the product really catches on.
I use sprintpcs and the minutes just get deducted from my pool of minutes... which I have a LOT of. But the thing is... its a 14.4k connection. What masochist is out there downloading porn through that? It would take a minute for a boob to show up. Jeez.
Not like they can prove you aren't a student. It just makes you pick a state and school. Just say you go to it. What are they going to do? Check the school register to make sure you are a student before selling it to you?
Just because someone has an old version of software that may have some known exploit in it doesn't mean they have to upgrade to a newer version. For many reasons I wouldn't want that to happen. I use an older version of sendmail on one of my very low key servers that has no contact with the outside world. Simply because it has a config file specifically for it that does everything I need. Now if it expired and I was forced to upgrade I would have to rewrite everything because the syntax is different. I don't like being forced to do something like that when I don't have time for it.
If you are going to make me update because of a security hole, make sure your product is 100% backwards compatable with the version I am running. IMHO that is the way it should be.

Heh Heh. It shows her boobs and there is even a nice crotch shot in one scene. Definately a movie for those milla fans.:):):)
MOOLTIPASS!!!!
I have noticed this too. I am about ready to drop comcast. Since they switched from @home my downloads as well as uploads have been slowed to a crawl. I can hardly watch 300K video streams without a rebuffer every minute. Uploads seem like I am on a modem sometimes. Why am I paying the same money for less than half service? It just doesn't make sense.
Some guy who worked for a company hired by Microsoft called my office and asked to speak to the head of IT. He then said that I would be getting something in the mail if I hadn't already detailing the settlement for Microsoft. He then said this trial is costing taxpayers every day that it continues and it should be stopped. He told me about the public comment period and to go to their site which would submit a comment for me to the DOJ. I told him I would be much happier if Microsoft just crumbled and told him where he could put his propaganda. He said, "But taxpayers are the ones suffering here." and I said "Well Microsoft could just close their doors now and save us all the pain." He hung up. I forgot the name of the website but if I get that info in the mail I will put the info up somewhere. Jerk.

you believe wrong. sprint and verizon are both CDMA.

But, my question is... Is it illegal to paintball the MS skaters? Does that fall under artistic freedom? :)

For telling us this breaking news several days after it was already on every news site you could think of.
