  1. Umm.. Integrated Ones are ALWAYS Slower on Integrated 3D Graphics Motherboard Round-Up · · Score: 1

Okay, first of all the igp's in the motherboard's by themselves are awesome. But in the real world performance is always weaker with the integrated video no matter who makes them.

Even after developing a dual channel ddr memory system for there nforce mobo it still performed way below an nforce did with a separate geforce 2 mx card in the agp slot.

BUT for hardcore amd gamers the nforce has always been the best choice! When the 266 mhz fsb wars were going on nothing could beat a nforce mobo with a separate video card, namely the geforce 3.

Now it's fallen behind again due to the fact that newer mobos have memory clocks of 333 mhz but the new nforce2 should be able take the crown as the fastest amd motherboard around.

You know what... I'm getting tired of not so informative posts getting posted as such. The nforce which sported a Geforce2 MX core performed well below an actual geforce2 mx, in some cases running at 1/3rd the frame rate on games like Unreal Tournament and max payne.

Why? Just because these motherboards have the awesome graphics cores doesn't mean anything. They lack the dedicated high speed memory bandwidth that standalone cards have. Even with the dual channel ddr that nvidia used on there nforce the thing still performed like crap.

This is why the new nforce2 will come with a new model that doesn't include the igp.

Well if a dreamcast looks a lot better on a Monitor. A PS 2 and X-box definately should. But Sega's VGA adapter was a first party product so they had it in mind when developing the console. Not sure if Sony or MS had it in mind but they probably look good on a monitor.

  7. Ofcourse It does on Console Image Quality Guide · · Score: 1

It came out one year earlier then the other guys. And in that year technology has improved greatly. To show you what difference this make here's what 5 years mean to console games (the time between ps 1 and ps 2).

    PS 1
    2 MB of System ram
    1 MB of VRAM
    33.3 mhz processor

    PS 2
32 MB of system ram 16x increase
8 MB of video ram (might be four, it's smaller then it should be) 8x
300 Mhz Processor (it does a LOT more then a pentium 2 per clockcycle, this baby has more then 150 million transistors, p2's had around 40 million) 10x increase

Predictions for a system coming out one year later (notice i multiplied everything by .2 because this is a one year increase and not the full five years:

System memory 128 MB or 96 MB
    Calculations: .2X16X32= 102.4 MB

    Video Memory 16 MB - 24 MB
    Calculations: .2X8X8= 12.8 MB
My prediction is higher then the amount because the vram they used were priced much lower within a year.

Processor 600 MHZ (Remember this isn't a pentium but a video gaming graphics rendering beast. If the X-box chip ran at 300 mhz (runs at 750 mhz i believe - not sure) like the ps2 it's easy to imagine it lagging far behind the ps 2 in performance.

Ofcourse it'd still cost $300 now rather then $200. But if Sony didn't lower their price it's predictible that Microsoft wouldn't either. Microsoft's hardware would still be more expensive due to the hard drive.

Windows: I've used it for a long time and it happens to be a excellent desktop O/S. It on ibm's Open PC Architecture (and has been since the 80s) so there's a lot of cheap and powerful hardware. Downside is that it is harder to use because of the shear amount of stuff for it.

Linux (RH 7.1 with a lot of RPM upgrades): I use this as a hobby/side business for a server of mine. Runs very well, Duron 1 ghz, 1 gig of ram. Hardware/software cost is a real issue here and nothing can compare. My hobby includes a site that get's over 600,000 pageviews daily :). I'd replace Linux with windows already if it were not for the better interface + number of desktop apps of windows that i already use.

OS X Server: I run several of these for and educational institution (happens to be a rich school district). They've always been using macs and there was no way around it. I mainly run two webservers an apache (with PHP, MySQL) and a webstar (with Lasso, Filemaker).
