Well that's when Starbucks buys DD and starts opening Stardonuts or Dunkinbucks... they can market it as an entirely different company and open them right next to SB and DD shops!
OK, wtf... I click the link and no sponsored results now. I swear I'm not crazy, but they were there. I don't know what determines if they show up or not, but they do exist for some searches.
Actually, they do show sponsored search results. Here's what Blake was searching for.
Notice the blue box at the top. That's WAY more confusing than the "Tip" which looks absolutely nothing like a search result. But yes, the results are based on PageRank... and IMO, like I said, the Tips they include don't even look similar to a search result so not too deceptive at all to me. Of course, I don't consider myself an "average user" whom might find it to be just that.
So he's upset that Google's own product is suggested when he searches for something related to his own project? WTF? Just like everyone else has said, they're a business. I don't blame them at all.
Is he going to stop trusting MS if they suggest Internet Explorer on MSN when he searches for "web browser"? OK, bad example, he probably doesn't trust them anyways... but it's the same idea.
Oh, I get it... mod me down b/c you think I posted the original and was complaining about the moderation of "my" post. Well, whatever you'd like to think. Just know I'll see you in MetaMod.
Actually, I don't think I know anyone that got an iPod as a gift this year. At least, not that I heard of. I know of two people that got Zunes (somehow...) and my sister got a Sansa because my mom didn't want to spend the extra for a Nano (wanted something small and simple, but with a screen). So I picked out the Sansa as a "next-best" sort of thing for her.
Why is that "offtopic?" I think it's a pretty valid question to anyone at the RIAA. It's a good starting point if you otherwise just don't know where to begin. And with them... ya, I wouldn't know where to start either.
Both of them really do add up to "not necessarily Nintendo's problem." Which is why it's very cool of them to step up and make their customers happy. Of course... I'm sure a new TV for a couple of them would make them more happy, but hey, it's a start.
It really is a great theory... but it wouldn't work. There are too many people that do NOT see this sort of information that will continue to buy music and purchase normally. Of course everyone wants some boycott... but how often do they REALLY work? You just can't reach the necessary audience and have the necessary impact on them for it to be successful.
Here's one suggestion for fighting back: Don't buy a Zune.
Most people reading this by now know that MS caved and some sort of "copyright tax" to the RIAA for every Zune sold. Even if you ignore all of the negative reviews and MS is the devil and all that; the money given to the RIAA from the sale of the player is enough for me to never, ever consider buying one. And to recommend the same to anyone I ever happen to know.
Out of all of the people complaining that Vista "isn't out yet"... this comment actually makes the most sense to explain the incompatibility. There have been what... 2, 3 more builds since RC1 that have been available for public download?
That being said, it seems to be the actual Zune software that's not recognizing a supported OS - and not necessarily the OS allowing it to install. So the build of Vista may be irrelevant.
I get spam all the time... but I too had never seen this thing before. Just because people get spam and phishing emails doesn't mean they're dumb enough to click them. I don't even do it out of curiosity.
Well, for one, I don't hear or see a single bass guitar on that entire site! I mean, how can you be the master of something and not want to show it off?
I think I recognized 5-10 of the games in that list. Given, I'm not a "hardcore" gamer by any definition... but are most of these games in Japan or something and the info is from that release and the trouble Japanese people are having? I didn't really notice if TFA said or not, so someone correct me if it didn't.
Basically though, how many people in the US will this really impact? I'm certain that most of the other PS2 gamers out there have heard of and/or played more of those games than I've heard of... but I don't see too many (of what I would consider) big names on there (except maybe GT4, FFXI, Tekken 5, and a couple other debatable ones). Will the majority of gamers really have that many problems?
(i'm not trying to say it's insignificant or anything, i'm really asking)

Ya, I don't know any of those this year either actually... :)

Maybe it's crappy b/c you have to send an email to receive the image? Then you send another and get the next image? Lather, rinse, repeat?
Ya, I forgot about that one. Nice save. :)

I think this about sums it up.
Though no matter what the fault here, good for Nintendo to listen to the consumers and actually do something about it. Good PR, IMO.
Because "some analysts" are apparently retarded.
I can't wait to get a Wii and make a Mii of Jack Thompson and beat the shit out of him. Oh, wait... then he's probably sue Nintendo, right?

Say "make it $5 and you've got a deal."
Per the article, he has sold a TOTAL of about 150 million yen... which works out to roughly $1.3 million, USD.
I fixed that for you...
Ya, it would seem he's just squirting things all over the place...
*shudder*

Blue-Ray home theater player availability: now?
PS3 availability: maybe eventually.

He's a sponsor... he got to see it before you did and was able to prepare something ahead of time and post it.
