    Apple doesn't allow people to convert iTunes music to any other formats or codecs, and doing so is probably against the law in most countries because it would be considered "circumventing copy protection".
    Don't let the facts stand in your way. What planet do you live on? On mine (Planet Earth), you can burn CDs from DRMed AACs in iTunes.

    Alternatively, I would argue that the existence of the death penalty demeans the society, as, collectively, those people are saying that a human life is subject to the whims of a jury.
    Whereas many thousands of human lives are subject to the whims of just a single individual, simply because they happen to live on top of a rapidly-diminishing pool of oil.

    It's akin to proving that lotteries aren't random, because some numbers come up more frequently than others. Or that a coin flip isn't random because 100 flips doesn't result in exactly 50 "heads".
    The proper study of probability provides for the debunking of such nonsense. Bad statistics is bad statistics, whether applied to coin tossing or data mining.

    Of course, and if you're not, you obviously don't have the first clue about costing.

    You don't get a reliable music download service by putting a whole load of computers in a room and then leaving them to their own devices (pun intended).

    One is Gonzalo Frasca's "September 12," in which players shoot missiles at terrorists in a small village. The fun quickly turns political, however, as villagers mourning friends and relatives accidentally killed by the missiles morph into terrorists themselves. The message, clearly, is to think about consequences.
    Maybe it would be better to realize that this "message" is totally and completely racist, bigoted and prejudiced.

    Quite. And why don't I hear anyone making the argument "But BMW are just acting to maximise the profits of their shareholders, as they are required to do by law" that I have heard so often recently in Google's favour?

    As it turned out, I found prior art for every single patent idea that the group turned out, so I did a very good job.
    You did a good job for yourself, but maybe not for your employer.

    There's nothing new under the sun, but companies use patent portfolios on the principle of mutually assured destruction -- don't go after us for these, or we'll go after you for those. If you have a large volume of patents, it would cost the other guy too much to try to determine the soundness of them all -- easier to just leave you alone and go after someone else.

    What we need is patent non-proliferation treaties!
