All done under NDA so the details of the fraud are not revealed and investors are kept in the dark.
Given that there's quite a few companies who've had to sign up to the MS "licencing agreement", someone somewhere could accidentally leak the patents in question without it being obvious where they came from.
But I guess once someone is signed up, there's no incentive to help anyone else!:(
So I've created a "page" for my business. It seems my own G+ account is linked to this "page" so only I can admin the page... I'm sure this will be fixed, but surely its kind of obvious?
Also obvious, but is it possible to create a "page" via a Google-Apps account? 'cos that would make sense really.
But I can see no obvious way to do these things, and whilst I'm sure it will be solved in time, it's annoying because as a business, I feel compelled to secure my "page" right now.
Problem is, there will be zero practical impact to any site that gets blocked. But on the other hand, BT (and any other affected ISP) does incur a cost which therefore gets passed to their customers.
If I saw a high end Mercedes with no licence plate parked in a handicapped parking spot I would have assumed the owner was a pretentious douche bag and keyed the vehicle.
... but in this case the owner is driving the car for less than 6 months, so on balance, he probably won't even have to drive a "keyed" car for much more than a few weeks. He probably didn't even need to get the car cleaned he changed it so often!*
*this should not be taken as an indicator of how often I clean my car. although it probably could be.
To be fair the other states, part of the reason Germany is doing well is because the Euro is weak which is good for German exports. And part of the reason the Euro is weak is because.... of the "under performing" states.
It occurs to me that if you're (not _you_ obviously!) plan was to shift multiple small shipments of drugs via UAVs, then the logical conclusion to this would be to cut out the middle-men, aka drug dealers, and just ship direct to the customer! As bad as this sounds, it does amuse me that drug dealers could find themselves out of a job.
How about, since there's no way (AFAIK) to "enemy" someone on Facebook, if I set up a "circle of evil" on Google+ and could use that to AVOID people who I don't want to socialise?
Whilst it sounds dumb -- why would I have any relationship with such people? -- I might just wish to avoid bumping into people from work when I'm with my friends.
IMHO this is would be *VASTLY* more useful than being able to sit with friends... if they're real friends, I prolly would've arranged something with them anyway.
Following that train of thought.... if I signed up to that site, got my unique code and then posted it as a comment here, would I show as having hacked slashdot?
They're up 15% immediately after the announcement. That tells something.
It tells us that the market thinks there's a greater chance Nokia will soon be acquired by someone else -- probably MS. This has nothing to do with mobile OS wars!
I bet other Android manufacturers are even more worried, now that Google owns their own hardware too. Suddenly all the Android manufacturers are using a competitors product and then trying to fight against them too. This is also why Nokia's stock price is rising up. It's bad times for those other Android vendors, and I think they're already looking at something else than Android.
I'm pretty sure Google would be aware of that concern; they've already stated that it will remain as a separate business, and I expect that's because the last thing they want to do is be seen to be competing with their own partners. I'd guess this purchase was forced by the patent situation and not because Google really wants to get into manufacture.
Re Nokia, I'm not seeing that much change in their stock price. Yes, they're up and a bit today, but that only covers the previous months decline... but maybe I'm missing something.
Re other Android vendors, they'll have picked Android because it's in demand and they will have weighed that up against potentially having less control. They could still fork if it's a big problem though which is more than they could do if they'd gone with Window Mobile (or whatever it's called these days). Also, despite Nokia now being in MSs pocket and basically being the "preferred" partner, there still seem to be other manufacturers willing to go with winmo... so by extension, I wouldn't expect much change over on the Android side of things either.
I am okay with carrier demands if they really are subsidising a product as long as it's possible to by the same product unsubsidised and unlocked.
Hopefully Googorola* will try to open things up -- *we* need this as at present phone OS's aren't being updated by the manufacturers or the carriers quickly enough, and I'd imagine Google must be a bit concerned about the security implications of this?
Worth noting that the latest reports still seem to confirm that he was carrying a gun -- specifically the rumour is that it was in a sock and therefore he couldn't have fired it... like that's a great alibi -- so whilst regardless of the situ. no one deserves to die, it seems that this guy wasn't exactly a pillar of society.
I'd add to that that patent holders should be prevented from hoarding patents, by, I dunno, not actually selling anything and therefore not making the profit to cover development costs. So, if the dev. costs are known, then the patent holder must sub-licence at a "reasonable rate"* if requested to do so. That'd prevent (say) Apple holding patents on "slide to unlock" or whatever and therefore hindering competing products.
I think the main problem here is getting solid development cost figures.

On the other hand, when Balmer comes up with a bad idea, he sticks with it!

I thought with offshoring everything you wouldn't run into these problems.
Me thinks they offshored it a bit too much. If they'd just kept it the _dry_ side of the beach then they'd have been fine.
Oh yeah, and my other question was:
Who are "they" anyway?
Well are they? You should know by now surely!
Also stops Chrome Frame from working.

But... Chrome OS?
Copyright 2005?? What the fuck? lol
Also, in the source I find:

Assuming existing TV as monitor and headphones, you can pick up a USB Mouse and Keyboard for less than $10 ... what else do you need?
A small PSU?
:D
Oh... and a cassette recorder for mass storage!!
I believe cameras covering secured areas are known as "security cameras". It would certainly be a surprise if it turned out they were illegal!

is rumoured to have Flash, USB ports, AND a 3.5" floppy disk.
and porn.
and HDMI ports.
and Blueray (or is that obsolete yet?)
And I'm especially saddened that WebOS never really had a chance to strut it's stuff.
ditto. There's prolly a parallel universe where Nokia are doing massively well after purchasing Palm!

I only skimmed the summary and was trying to figure out how Roger Grimes could be the name of an OS.
