How is that different from any evidence collected from anywhere?

Most evidence has to be authenticated by the person that recovered it. Just like if a store security guard see you shop-lifting, stops you and searches you, anything he finds, such as a bag of coke, you can be prosecuted for. How do we know he didn't plan it? He has to take the stand, swear to it, and then be cross-examined. That is how our system works, mostly.

    I'm not so sure.

I have a number of friends that had no problem pirating the likes of Win XP and Office when all you had to do was type in the key you get off of the CD that someone burned for you or the net. But after WGA, a number of them when out and bought XP and Vista because they did want to deal with all of that 'registry stuff'.

As for myself and most people here, that 'registry stuff' is not going to bother us, but as much as we don't want to admit it, it does keep may of the masses honest.

The cable co. box just works. It has two tuners for HDTV, and can store a fair amount of content. For everything else, you have the modded xbox. It can play fairly high quality video (granted, no true HD) from any torrent, and is already in a nice little box. And is is great for NES / SNES / Mame emulation. Anyone else have this setup?

Actually there is a big difference between the call and the e-mail in the eyes of the law. You have a different privacy interest when you are making a call because it is an active communication and therefore the wiretapping statues and laws come into play. However an e-mail is considered more of a contained communication that is over with, kind of like if you left a message on a voice mail. Then the property interest would be with the person that has the message, not the person that sent it.

exactly. They are already having massive shortages. They probably should have RAISED the price. If they truly only shipped 200,000 units then they easily could have sold them for over $1,000 a piece. That is still less than the average price on e-bay for the premium units. I know there is more to pricing a console than straight supply and demand, but if you are going to have such a big shortage, at least give yourself a chance to avoid riots in the street. You know the "must have a new system" folks buying on e-bay would have paid it.
