I don't think GTA:SA even has kill frenzies any more.
Yep, you have gangwars instead. They fit the theme of the game way more than the kill frenzies.
But besides that. What is evil? It's a game afterall, nothing is real. It's an alternate reality, so concepts of evil can be the other way around. For example would you say Che Guevara was evil or good. It depends on your perception of reality.
I'm not saying that the GTA series is a good role model
Now there's an understatement.
The last 3 GTA games (GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas) was paroday games where they tried to apply as much as cliche's and prejudice things into the game. It's probably the worse example for any serious virtual world real world analysis.
Or rather, if you don't have time to play a particular game in order to reach a certain level then play an other game that does fit your schedule. Nobody is forcing you to play that game.
I don't really watch any sport, I find it rather boring to watch. Sport is something you should do, right? Well if not, then sure, gaming is a spectator sport. Some will like it, other won't.
granted, but in the Doom days the internet wasn't very popular. Ofcourse the gamasutra article isn't really about online multiplayer games. But I still think this whole article was cut a bit short (like may other/. readers), not really gamasutra like.
I somehow expected Unreal Tournament to be listed. End of 1999 was a big deal for FPS MultiPlayer, there was Quake3 and Unreal Tournament. Both served a very important part in the future of multiplayer FPS games.
And if it was up to me I would say Unreal Tournament was the more important one of the two.
OpenSource will always win on some level. Projects can be assiminated into another projects, it's possible to combine the efforts of multiple similar projects into the "stronger" project. The strong project way have won a battle, but all project won in the end. The only party that might lose is the end-user, but then again, they would lose much less if they backed a closed source project, because in that case they wouldn't have any possibility to continue the project.
It was a great "murder simulator"/tactical shooter. But after Rainbow Six 3: Ravenshield the focus shifted to console games destroying the whole Rainbow Six concept that worked so well.
You shouldn't. Impotence is nature's signal that you are not fit for reproduction. Your reproduction will only result in more people responding to spam, which is ofcourse a bad thing.
Just because the are going to offer a service end users don't want doesn't make them evil. The publishers/studios that are going to use the service are evil.
Ofcourse this doesn't change the fact that I don't like in-game advertising and that I won't buy a game that has it. Not even if google provides the ads.
First of all, Anachronox was Tom Hall's game. Romero was working on his game (Daikatana) while Tom was working on Anachronox. So Romero had little to do with it. Anachronox wasn't rushed (much), they took 4 years to develop the game (and it was actually quite large compared to most games). But ofcourse after what happened to Daikatana the publisher got scared, hence the bad sales. The chance for a sequel is low because the rights are locked in at the publisher. Tom Hall wants to create a sequel, and would have if he got hold on the rights. Releasing it on a handheld is retarted, did the writer even play the game?
people say advertisements make games more realistic. (or at least you should) People are starting to get used to something that annoyed them in the first place (making them jump ship). What's next? ads in your dreams (to make them more realistic?)
To quote Futurama:
Leela: Didn't you have ads in the 20th century? Fry: Well sure, but not in our dreams. Only on TV and radio. And in magazines. And movies. And at ball games and on buses and milk cartons and t-shirts and written on the sky. But not in dreams. No siree!
iirc they made a movie on this subject, it was called S1m0ne

Now that raises another question.
Would that book sell?
(probably not because that story has been told a couple of times, even recently in the current issue of the escapist)
Friends(TM)
The next target for Microsoft's embrace-and-extend strategy
- Daikatana
- Anachronox
both failed, yet they contain the elements of success

So do the world a favor... please...
What's the PS3 thing everybody is talking about?
Oh right, it's the new Sony gameconsole that is still not available in Europe (and a shit load of other countries).

it's about if people can distinguish reality from virtual reality. If people can't then they have a problem and they should be helped.

Crap, there goes my excuse. I hope my boss didn't see this.
You're complyely right. Video2000 was the superior format.
"most cars" in the real world or in "the world" (a.k.a. the USA)?
Couldn't you simply watch the right MacGyver episode?
Old is indeed the good word.
I wonder if the movie is about finding the fountain of youth.
... is watching?

How dare you!
