They turned a good idea for an action plot into a horrible attempt at explaining evolution. I was half expecting to hear that their ship was named "The Beagle".

The movie was watchable, but far, far, far frok "great".

I think you may have missed the point. The plot of Master and Commander was far from convincing, but that was more than made up for by the incredable atmosphere of the movie.

Master and Commander makes you really feel like you're on a 18th century scooner. It's perhaps the best done sailing movie I have ever seen. In terms of the atmosphere of the movie, I think it rivals ROTK, which I saw today.

This is bullcrap. If I don't care and feel no moral object to downloading music, why would 'risk-sharing' upset me. I don't even know what risk sharing is!

The moral impact of downloading music for me is ZERO, in spite of what some MBA monkey tells me. 'Risk sharing' isn't going to scare me into sharing less.

  3. My Moon Rocks?!?! on Piece of the Moon for Sale · · Score: 5, Insightful

The american public payed millions of dollars of taxes to send a man to the moon and bring back moon rocks. Therefore, I find it strange and wrong that moon rocks can be in private hands.

Everybody paid to bring the rocks here, and therefore these rocks should belong to all American people, not to private owners.

No, these aren't. Plenty of kids go through high school and don't do these things. The fact that some do is no excuse to let the adolescent world run rampant.

Theres a big BIIIIG difference between controlling everything your kids do, and implying that your kids have to right to a personal life and letting them run rampant.

The best thing you can do is teach them as best you can, but let them the freedom to make their own decisions. The key word here is TRUST. If you raise your kids correctly, to be great people and all, you should be able to TRUST them.

The author of the previous comment obviously keeps his kids on a tight leash, and obviously doesn't trust them. That's why I think he's going to be surprised. Your kids external appearence (especially if you happen to be a very restrictive parent) has little to do with what they actually are like.

    F'n idiot.

Swearing is the last resort of someone who doesn't know what to say.

I can't stand politically correct bullshit like this. Of course you can make your kid turn out gay. Simply get him into thinking that sex with women is wrong... he'll just turn those urges some other way.

  8. Re:Trust them on Rules for Teenage Internet Access? · · Score: 4, Insightful

Trust me, since I was probably a kid more recently than you have (i'm 21, some may argue I still am a kid). Honor students, gifted musicians, and eagle scount mean nothing.

I've known them all, and honor students, giften musicians and (in Canada) Air/Army/Sea Cadets or Boy/Girl scouts get just as drunk and have just as much sex as every other teenager. You can't watch your kids all of the time, it's physically impossible, and you have to accept the fact that they WILL try drinking, they WILL have sex and chances are they will try drugs. These are just things kids do in high school, and your restrictivness and controlling attitude may actually encourage these things to happen.

It doesn't matter how nice your kids seem to you, they WILL surprise you, especially since you can't accept that they may have lives of their own.

17-19$ Goes a long way in Edmonton (I beleive thats where the job is) compared to lets say Vancouver or Toronto where you'd need at least 25$/hour.

As a current resident of Vancouver and a previous resident of Calgary (Calgary and Edmonton are basically the same city, just in different locations) I can tell you that the cost of living in Edmonton is greater than it is in Vancouver. Rent costs about the same, but things like food, utilities, and transportation are far more expensive in Edmonton. Bottom line, 17 bucks an hour sucks just as much in Edmonton as it does in Vancouver.

  25. Never buy 1st run products.... on Review: PogoProducts' Radio Your Way · · Score: 5, Insightful

A few years back, I heard about something called an MPTrip CD player, it was the first of it's kind. A portable CD Player that could actually play MP3s.... it was cheep too, only 150 CDN dollars!

I ran out and got one as soon as it came out. Frankly it was a piece of shit, none of the features one would really need like skipping between albums was there. It skipped like MAD, and it sucked battery power like there was no tomorow. Overall, a terrible CD player, it couldn't even play regular CD's!

Needless to say, I stopped using it after about a month. Two years later (or a few weeks ago) I picked up a second mp3 CD player, this one rocks and actually works. The product has been seriously refined since the first one came out, and I am very satisfied.

From reading "The Bad" part of this review I see that the author is having the same sort of problems... I guess the message is: hmmm thats cool, but I'll wait until Panasonic, Sony, or anyother reputable company makes one.
