Am I the only one who would put something solid behind the transparent screen so I wasn't distracted by the stuff behind it? People walking around back there, maybe the dog running through my documents...it'd tick me off pretty quick.

That may just be me though...

It's not just you, I used to have transparent terminal windows on OS X, but after about 15 minutes I had to adjust it because the background kept interfering with the type. Yeah I could have changed the font color, but when I put on a background with multiple colors, I was screwed (who wants to change fonts whenever they change backgrounds anyways?) So I think it'd be totally distracting..

For the people suggesting this as an HUD in driving, I wouldn't like this, new Corvettes have this as far as I know, but I think it would just be distracting. If you're looking at the speed you're going to have to focus on the speedometer and the road will not be your primary focus anyways.. and maybe you won't be able to see the HUD as well because of all of the action in front of you? Or maybe the HUD 'guage cluster' would interfere by always being in your face and make it hard to concentrate on the road..? I'm sure they can make it functional, but I'm also sure it'd still be somewhat distracting at the least.. But then again, I could be wrong.

I was wondering this myself when I set up spamassassin on our mail server here (We're a web hosting provider using Communigate Pro). It filters mail for everyone by just changing the subject line to let them know that it's been marked as spam. From there they can read it, delete it, filter it based on the new common subject line into a junk folder or whatnot.. I got sick of doing that, so what I did is this: I set it up to be read in by the mail server, then I applied a rule to it which states If the message is tagged as spam, reply with the following custom message. To paraphrase.. that message basically says "the message you sent was considered spam by our email system's spam filter for reasons stated in the header of this message. if you'd like to get ahold of me about this you can call me at (number+ext)." This has worked out pretty well for us so far.

HOWEVER, I'm thinking if this is the case, and there's people wanting to trade-up, i'm sure you won't have a hard time finding a 5GB for the price you're looking for (who knows, maybe less) on ebay or someplace..

I know a lot of people who choke at $300 but would jump on one in a hearbeat if the prices was lowered to around the $200 mark.

I'm one of those people, I think if they do end up getting bigger drives and the 5s end up on ebay, i'll finally be able to justify buying one and act on it.

For windows there's a program called MailWasher that i've had a LOT of success with... it's really only good on a Monday morning, because you don't run it all the time.. but basically you just put all of your accounts in it and it will check every account against whatever blacklists you want, along with its own rule sets (and yours) and tags things as spam.. you just have to make sure there's no false positives, then hit 'process mail' and it will bounce back and blacklist every address that was tagged, then remove them from your server.. then when you go to check it with your mail program, you have nothing you don't want..
