    I was under the impression that Google also was in the server biz, selling their search algorithms to businesses with a lot of data, essentially. That seems physical to me. They were even looking to hire mechanical engineers a short while ago.

    I also don't see how a portal is "physical".

    But I also feel uneasy about it.

    It's not only about the money. It's about obsoleting a lot of spam-checking routines out there.

    Though I wonder if much of the public would catch on if it were even announced that the Nigerian Royal Family had just invested a large amount of cash in Verisign.

    Maybe they're capping because of all the bandwidth usage by Sobig, Blaster, and spam. I had to block a couple Comcast IPs 2 weeks ago, via my mailserver, as they were sending me Sobig at least once an hour.

    if it becomes unusable then you have no legal recourse but to buy another if you didn't have some form of backup that you made yourself from your legal copy that you originally purchased.

    And if they put copy protection on the CD to make backups impossible (and didn't advertise such facts clearly)?

    Maybe we can get ESPN to televise your 'funny game'. It'd even be better than when I used to watch the skiers rack themselves on Wide World of Sports, back in the day.
