Well, looking at the current relationship between USA and great britain, i see no risks of warheads being pointed at anyone. But as another poster pointed out, every new step in weapons tech triggers an arms race in some form.
Arms race between who?
Its not like Russia has any plans of global domination(c),
and the terrorists hardly have any funds of building MiniNukes.
Buying REAL nukes from corrupt russian warehaoused00dz, that is another story.
Thank you for proving my point. All i wanted at that time was to know wtf was wrong with graphics in X.
I knew it was an unusual problem since i have set up and used RedHat SuSE, Slackware and even Rootlinux before (on the exact same system) and i never had any of the problems i encountered with the SUNet distro.
I agree slackware is kind of not an entry-level system, but at least could you guys have pointed me in the right direcrion?
Um, in Sweden, Philips IS the regular screwdriver. =)
Are we talking about the same hardware here?
The one shaped like a "+".
I always tend to break the "-" ones.:D
Since we already started quoting ppl, here is one i like better:
You know all that money we spend on the
military ever year - trillions of dollars? Instead, if we use this money to feed and
clothe the poor of this world, which it
would do many times over, then we can
explore space, inner and outer, together,
as one race.
Informative. I have to get myself one of those Torx-tools. I dug up 9 old drives from the basement today. Everyone of those little buggers had Torx-screws on them. i had to take a phillips-driver and bang real hard (obviously the drives were all busted already) with a hammer on it to make some new tracks in the screwhead. Mostly it worked without the spanking but one or two of the drives had to be seriously punished.
Anyway, they make nice wall decorations and the warranty warning labels are now on my 17-hole boots.
Exactly what im doing, RTFparent. =)
I know there can be little or no official support for home linux users but its the friendly advice from the people around me that im missing.
Enough said, move on.:)
Oh yeah, i tried SuSE, AssH.. err.. RedHat and RedHat two more times before that one incident, and the support from my comrades was as lacking as ever.
But thanks anyway, this is sort of the kind of peer support i was talking about. =)
Some time ago i DLed Slackware 7 (or whatever, im a Linux noob) from the Swedish University Network and installed it. It was not the first time i installed linux so i had some clues on how to get a window manager, sound and the internet connection running. But to my frustration the resolution was always off somehow and everything farked up. SO, i return to my filthy imperialistic pigdog Windows and ICQ my Linux-geek friend. Guess what? Couldnt fix it. After a few weeks in windows, i hear the distro on the SUNet was corrupted and averyone downloading the ISO had problems with X-resolution. The bottomline? Peer-to-peer support is way too hostile in the linux community. Go ahead and tell me i shouldnt run linux if i cant get it running in 10 minutes. I still think the community could use some more happy faces and a friendlier attitude towards noobs like me.
Ok, im gonna duck now and try to keep myself from catching fire.
Yeah, childish games like for example the Resident Evil series, Splinter cell, Baldurs Gate, Blood Omen 2, Blood Rayne, Call of Duty, Dead to rights, Enter the Matrix, Eternal Darkness, Hitman2, Killer 7, Medal of Honor Frontline, Metal Gear Solid, Ghost Recon, Sum of all Fears and XIII.
And i wouldnt let my kids play BMX XXX or Beach Spikers. =)
They can pry my gamecube from my cold, dead hands!
Personally I'd like to see a whole year set aside to making software SAFE instead of adding features.
One of the smartest things ive heard on/. so far.
Blocking MIDI-files would mean that no more would i have to listen to all those cheesy MIDI versions of already cheesy tunes whenever i visit someones homepage. What a disaster.. Lets hear it for the blocking of MIDI files! Hip hip, Hurray!;)
The terrorists, in general, are not uneducated, but the people that support them with work, faith and money are poor uneducated farmers.
People who are poor and uneducated end up supporting terrorists, knowingly or unknowingly.
How about having a "forward" button that is more useful than todays.
Heres what i have in mind:
Modern browsers are advanced enough to see repetitions in archives.
How about letting the browser take you to the next file in the opened archive when pressing forwards? For example, im reading textfile1.txt, and i want to view textfile2.txt. I simply press the forwards button and my nice little dreambrowser takes me to the next numbered file in the archive. Yes, you get the point if you see how useful it would be for pr0nsurfing.:D
I have heard about the function in an old browser, but i cant see the reason NOT to put one in a modern one.
Lets demonstrate for better pr0nsurfing capabilities in our bundled browsers! Whos with me? Yea or Nay?
"the Pentagon has stepped up development of cyber-weapons, envisioning a day when electrons might substitute for bombs and allow for more rapid and less bloody attacks on enemy targets."
Hacking to shut down radars and power from thousands of miles away can have no other cause than to support an aerial assault, and aerial assaults are never bloodless. They just want to cripple people so they cannot strike back.
Maybe we should redefine the terms "blood" and "human beings" to fit the United States wardance more correctly. Schools and hospitals without power can only turn people more against US.

That is scary because it is real.
Who checks so that the USA does not handle their MWDs in the wrong way?
Arms race between who?

I never thought i would see the day "Bosse Bildoktorn" was mentioned on slashdot. :D

Hear hear! Made me realize that math is everything, and got me into high-school,
from having had a special teacher in math the first year in school.

*blushes* sorry about that! =)
