Flyover states are what many liberals call most states that don't have a coast and/or aren't solid liberal voting states. Basically states that in their world aren't worth anything except to fly over them to a more important destination.
Well now that you can pick up a DVD Recorder (for your living room, not PC) for about $100, there's no point in investing any more in VHS. I recently got a Panasonic recorder that does +/-, DL and DVD-RAM for $199. With DVD-RAM you can even do Tivo-like things like pause live TV and rewind even while it is still recording. You can also go back and set chapter points at the commercial breaks and then delete the commercial chapters.
They tried something like this at one place I worked and it started causing computers to lock up and power supplies to fail. Most had something to do with overstressed capacitors (Dell GX270s but some GX520s were locking up as well)
Throwing money at education problems has consistently failed to produce results. Private schools do more with less money. I remember reading the nationwide average to educate a student is about $9000 USD a year but private schools average about 6000 a year, and many come with a laptop included in the tuition! I would rather have school vouchers instead. Let me apply the 9000 towards a school that can give a good education.
I recently spoke to someone who said that the school that their child is enrolled in has flat out stated that 2/3 of the school year is spend prepping the students for the yearly standardized tests and the rest of the time is spent with regular teaching. Does this sound like a problem to you? It does to me!
People are still getting struck by the blaster virus? Come on folks, please, load XP Service Pack 2 or at least the patch that blocks blaster. If you need any help, you can call microsoft and they will help you remove the blaster virus for free, or at least they did when I worked there. I think the number for help with viruses is 1-866-PCSafety
Find "^F" in Firefox 2.0 does not appear to work, text is entered in the Find area bottom-left but no page motion happens, queries that do not match text on the given page are not marked in red, etc.
If you remove Southpark, Dave Chapelle, and Daily Show. Damn, that seems about half the content right there!
Here's an "idear" put a flag on the video that the user can select. That says "Was the content of this video created by you or your group?" That may help users who want to showcase their material. Then people browsing content can select whether they want user created or other. Sure you'll never get 100% participation, but it may help people who want to specifically look for cats peeing in toilets, coke bottles exploding, people lighting farts and kids singing "Milk and Cereal"
I hit the ~3GB barrier on a dell recently, so I loaded the 64bit Vista RC2 beta and all 4GB was made available. Is the mobile core2 not a 64bit chip or did apple just not release a 64bit version of OSX for Intel yet?
I blame it on american diet and adverting on TV and in magazines.
You have no one to blame but yourself, I have no one to blame but myself. Sounds like you might be a liberal?
When people toss around the term "Civil Liberties" you have to remember that not every country is the US, UK, or Canada. If you don't like what they are doing, you have the option of seeking alternate modes of transportation.
Does anyone here at slashdot work for a living? If so, you've no doubt encountered access badges at some place that you've worked. You walk up to the door, swipe your badge by the sensor and the door unlocks. You think they don't keep records of that? My employer also has a lot of video cameras in their buildings, including one right over our department that is set to pause at each desk for a few seconds and move to the next. We also have a VOIP phone system where they do random call auditing to see what you've been doing. On occasion people get asked about things. Background checks for new hires are also common. I've even been asked if I've traveled outside the country in the past few years and for what purpose.
In NK, I suppose happiness would be food on the table, not millions/billions spent on making a nuclear bomb. Kim Jong Il will go down with Hilter, Pol Pot, and others in history.
I thought of it more so as a comparison meaning being a small step forward towards bigger things, but at the same time a giant leap in history as we know it. You could see it as landing on the moon and then an end point being something like warp technology.
In the last story about this, someone posted a link to the Triton manuals. I read the manual and it did have a password in it but it said to make sure you change the password before the ATM is put into production.
Not likely. I was using Thinkpad 600's back nearly 7 years ago! Those things are 333MHz at best.
Every week where I work, we're junking computers and laptops many times as fast as that. Someone out there, Dell, Lenovo, Apple, or whoever, please give this man a nice Core 2 Duo laptop (or Quad if you can get a hold of the chip)
then why are they not fixing it? I've had comcast for years and have had numerous issues relating to my connection going down when it rained. It took them almost 2 years to come out and reassemble the stupid box in the yard but that still didn't fix anything. Turns out the only way I was able to get it fixed was to move to a neighborhood with brand new wiring (there are houses still being built). Since then, there's been no issues that I can think of.

Fry's electronics has been doing this since the mid 1990's every time you write a check.
Until Wingstreet or Hooters invests in this?

I thought you guys were like Gods or something. Maybe I should start praying to someone else instead now?

I've noticed this as well.

There's no way of avoiding that without violating the second law of thermodynamics.
I hear Iraq is fairly sunny.

Next to the Jesus of course. But seriously, we really need History of the World part II!
And all of the dual aspect ratio discs that I've seen were produced by Warner Bros. as well.
Maybe we should start moderating the stories? I give this one (-1 Flamebait)
"Hell of a day, isn't it?" Then you answer and it rolls its eyes.

Just remove the fuser from your printer, make a printout, and when you're done reading, take a "can of air" and blast the toner off the page.
