Yes, but why not have your cake and it it too? If a sandbox model can help to protect users and assist developers in releasing secure extension while not restricting functionality, then why not do it? Sure users can still install dangerous programs and plugins but if they the hard way learn that they are well protected when using official firefox extensions, they will learn to trust firefox over it's competitors.
What about this news of MD5 sums being replicated? I do not have a link but I believe the idea was that a peer on the network could put a virus into the update and distribute it without being detected. Anybody else have some info on this?
What is your point? Why are some people bent on making this into a US versus everyone else issue? Yea, frivolous lawsuits happen in the US as well. What does that have to do with this lawsuit?
We are the only species to have managed to domesticate other animals. Ever give milk to a cat or dog? they love it, and it is good for them. Trust me, fi they could manage to milk a cow, they would.
Aren't there already a number of "free" root servers that are under non-govermnental or non-verisign control? There is nothing prohibiting changing to new root servers other than just getting people to bother making the switch
because the whole idea behind property is that you get to decide when you should or should not sell it. It BELONGS to you regardless of how many corrupt ruling have happened in the past.
If it takes new laws to keep this from happening anymore, then so be it. But for most of us who understand what the words "property" and "ownership" mean, we do not see it as necessary.
That is what this whole dispute boils down to and why 4 of the justices did not support the decision. It is a difference of opinion on what "ownership" truly is.
This is a good point. If federal law has been broken here, why hasn't he gone to the FBI? That obviously would have taken care of where the computers went as the FBI would have taken them.
Just because a few peoople within the company are doing somethings wrong is not a good reason for quitting. The last thing you should do is quit, ecspecially if you are determined to fix the problem. If you quit, the acts will look retaliatory.
Auditors find poeple commiting crime withing organizations all the time. That does not mean that they should quit their job. The same goes for anybody who finds something wrong at their company. You report it to the proper authorities and do what is right. Quitting his job would be exactly what the wrong-doers would want.
Another thing that should be mentioned is the easy porting of applications to the Qtopia environment, which we will hopefully be seeing on many more PDAs and SmartPhones. Trolltech truly works to put as much power into the hands of developers as possible. they make their products available under the GPL so that we can all use it for our purposes but they also allow us to do commercial development for a low licensing cost and your programs run on a large number of platforms. It is a stark contrast to an industry where user/developer lock-in and unnecessarily imposed limitations are common practice.
Fox News really is not journalism. They just take people with different points of view and let them argue on television. Then they give more air time to the conservative guy who yells a lot.
This is actually a good question and if you have never encountered a time where you needed to wrestle data from a proprietary data format, then you may not appreciate it. Consider this example:
You have a bunch of old files on floppies from some program you used back in the mid nineties and if you can just get the data off of these files, you can use them in some newer software for analysis (or something). In order to install the old software to access the files, you need a Windows 3.1 computer, however you no longer have a machine that runs Windows 3.1 and have no way to load the program. If the data just had an open format, you could write some simple scripts and extract the information that you need.
I could go on forever with examples, but I am sure you get the picture. Sometimes there is important information in files and sometimes MS Office does not give you all the functionality that you need to complete your task efficiently.
It's usually pretty hard to know somebodies intentions if they do not make them known. Unless of course a judge uses the Force to read the minds of the defendants.

Most of us solved this little problem back in the mid 90s by using the taskbar for window switching.
music is a drop in the bucket in comparison to video downloads. Talk about barking up the wrong tree.

Would it be piracy to copy a sense of humor and give it to this guy?

Wow, an internal practices website sounds like the perfect place to discuss internal practices.

Would be even better if they made a chain of hotels with locations in five cities.
Most of the sound cards I have used required me to download drivers to get them to work.
Speeding can put other drivers lives in danger. Copyright Infringement has been made into a crime because of corporate interests and lobbyists.

Well, look at the dog in the picture and you be the judge.
