    Ah, the number I like to mention is the elderly who die because they can't afford their daily meds, or fuel for their heater, or regular meals, etc.

  2. But they've been suing everyone for ages anyway... I remember an issue of Dragon Magazine that had some harried office worker asking someone else to answer the phone that was "circular-metal-band-ing" 'cause they weren't allowed to use the word "ring" or derrivatives of it any more....

    That is the one thing I liked about VB... pages of code in Java or C/C++ to do the same task as a quick click-n-drag ...

    Yup, and so it comes down to funding. Drastically cut, replaced from 'normal' channels to lottery ticket salesbase for the income (at least here in Fl).

    So... to fully fund everything - breakfasts, quality teachers, low seat counts,etc , The People need to get off the idea of "taxes are bad", taxes need to be levied, and the funds generated from such need to be dedicated to pre-k thru 12 education.

    This. No charger to worry about, no connectivity issues, no lighting issues, etc.

    Although if a PA system is being used, you may want to take a page from the Grateful Dead and ask if you can plug a recorder into the sound board...

    Goes pretty quick too...

    I use (software) RAID-1 for my /home directory, just reinstall the OS and apps. If my raid totally dies I guess I'm mostly screwed, but truly important stuff like tax returns I keep a copy on a different box (also w/ RAID /home) and a paper copy in a fire resistant safe.

    I have a few linodes around that 99% of the time have plenty of spare bandwidth, so I will typically start seeding the torrents when a new release hits, even of a distro I don't use, and I'll upload 25gb or so.

    The DEA had nothing to do with Fast-n-Furious - that was the BATFE (which should be a convienence store not a government agency)

    Unfortunately for you, part of the definition of Free software is that the license can't discriminate against persons or groups, and the license can't discriminate against fields of endeavor.

    Of course, with the "integrity of the author's source code" clause, Linus et. al could force Best Korea to use a name other than "Linux" (or whatever app/chunk-o-code/etc you care to think about) in order to protect the reputation of the name "Linux".

    I think Descent 3d would be better... I've played some with the planetarium here at work (dumping visualizations to a file and then playing on it... greatful dead, live recordings from archive.org) and it has some weird input - 30fps, must be 1024x1024, must be mpeg-1. And what we think of as the "middle" of the image (at 512,512) is actually top dead center on the dome... Gonna build a grid map (128x128 pixel chunks) project it and take some pix, get an idea as to where the focal point should really be

    IIRC they are "just" mbox files. Set up thunderbird, let it create a simple mbox file for like 1 throw-away message, exit thunderbird, copy over your mbox files.

    The convert utility in the imagemagick package does a good job of it with still images. I'd consider dumping your frames out as a series of images, running the convert utility on them, and then re-creating your movie.

    I've also thought that taking that code in convert, merging it into VLC, and setting up VLC to grab from 2 cameras at once... with enough CPU and RAM, it could be come very close to real time 3d movie.
