    As for CB radio, nobody tried to say that CB radio changed the way information is disseminated and how opinions are formed in the general public. Sure, it's like CB. That's not the problem. It's the over-rated part. Everyone should acknowledge that blogs are like CB radio and happily go back to whatever they were doing.

    Piracy has nothing to do with the fate of stuntmen and painters. CGI has a lot to do with their fate. It will kill them off the payroll. After that comes the actors. Actors won't be lost entirely but voice acting will not last long after the physical job of acting becomes disposable.

    It's significant that, out of a mountain of garbage, there are a few rare gems. Statistically, that will happen. It still doesn't change the reality of blogs. Like everything else in our society, blogs have been co-opted by the system. When a dork like Chris Matthews becomes a "hard" blogger, the party is over.

    In Florida, uncontrolled water consumption causes some ridiculous sinkholes. I remember when living in Tampa that an entire intersection was swallowed. Houses periodically make the news when a sinkhole takes the thing under.

    This suggests to me that the water pressure holds up a good deal of what we consider to be solid ground.

    Can anybody speculate that oil might do the same thing? Indonesia is a non OPEC country that exploits all they can out of the fossil liquid. Perhaps oil acts as a shock absorber against activity occurring on the crust closest to the mantle?

    It's easy to find whatever you want with Suggest. Overly broad terms don't make it into the list. Why should they? Each term shows how many results would be retrieved. Searching for "sex" or "porn" will return more digits than can fit.

    She got paid, right? Who cares what they did to a 30 year old story? They could have just as easily found another assclown author's books to adapt without comment. Some people are happy that people still care about their old work. They could have waited until the copyright ran out. I seriously doubt it went too far from the book.

    Best case scenario, she's lobbing grenades to get people to buy her books. I hope it works out in the end and she's not being ungrateful.

    They are geared for brain-dead button punching to create an army of RSI victims for the special interest Big Thumb industry.

    There is no chance in hell that the _average_ console gamer has the intellectual capacity and attention span to play something like Homeworld or any Total War game.

    This wouldn't concern me if it wasn't for the fact that PC studios are dying. If studios write for consoles first and PCs second, they will stop writing for PCs altogether. Check GameSpot's sales rank for systems overall. PCs don't crack the top 10.

    It's sad.
