  2. Re:Lindows on Talk With Michael Robertson · · Score: 1

I wish I still had mod points, this sort of trolling is laughable. +1 Funny. There's nothing second rate about what lindows is trying to emulate, the windows user interface, while not very innovative OR good looking, is a very effective way to get work done. Having your web-browser and local file browser in the same window is a great idea. (ok, so it's not mozilla friendly and it ties you into one web-browser, and I won't get into problems with IE, but for MOST users, it's perfectly fine)

Lindows isn't trying to emulate the bad things about windows, who in gods name would want to do that. Instead, they're trying to emulate the things that people LIKE about windows, while sneaking in some neat OSS/GNU/"beer" stuff in too.

Is Crypto getting secure to the point that we don't have to worry about anyone decrypting our communications? As open-source solutions become more and more viable, will networks like Freenet set the standard in the future for those of us who actually give a rip about privacy? Are we doomed, or is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

This isn't a match between Garry Kasparov and the programmers of Deep Jr.

I'd be willing to wager that Garry could easily beat any of the programmers of Deep Jr.

Plus, comparing Kasparov and Deep Jr is like comparing apples and oranges. Kasparov doesn't win by calculating every possible move each turn. There's something else going on inside his head, something that the computer will never be able to emulate. Call it instinct, natural skill, or a gut feeling, but when you break it down, they play the game in two very different ways.
