Apple Computers was originally banned from doing anything music related by their agreement with Apple Records. They were allowed to make system beeps, but nothing more. As you can imagine, that created problems when they wanted to add a software synth to their computers in the form of QuickTime. So, before they actually published anything with MIDI capabilities, they paid Apple Records a fairly large amount of money to rescind the agreement and never sue them again. This is also why the iPod is legal, iTunes is legal, and that system sound is named sosumi (pronounced so-sue-me).
Nintendo did try to make the SNES compatible with NES games. The SNES CPU is a 16 bit version of the NES CPU, which has an 8 bit mode. The rumor is they had trouble getting it to work well enough, and decided it wasn't worth the time and money to work out the kinks.
Yes they did get it to work, but it would have added an extra cost of 100$ or something in that area, and they felt that it wasn't worth he extra price.
Oncel Sam wants you now! Tired of playing your XBOX in your parents basement? Then this is the thing for you! We want trigger happy, folks to sign up now! And you can play all the games you want with others like youself! And in the case of war it will be just the same, only without the credits!
Yeah they're even breaking their own aqua guidelines. I haven't had a problem with telling which window is infront since I use tabs, and hide applications I don't use.
Rumor sites and leaks have pretty much gotten all the good stuff already. So I wonder what Steve will do on monday. I mean he truly loves announcing new shiny things.
It's a great game, it's made by the same people that made Goldeneye for N64. After goldeneye they started their own company.
It's a shooter game similar to goldeneye. But instead you travel through time. It has high replay value too. On easy you can beat it well easy. On normal it's much harder. But you'll beat it. Now hard heh it's near impossible:p
It also has a great multiplayer part where you can play in teams against bots. It also has some crazy singleplayer mini games.
You mean .Mac? :) Does all that, without having to run a server in your home, and possible get suspended for having a server.

Buying only Win2k would mean a another hardware lockout, x86 hardware only?
Dell - too expensive [one of the reasons for the project being so "hush hush" was that dell was exploring pricing options during bidding]
;)
Who could have guessed?

Umm, you can update software via the terminal and suprise emacs is included with default install!
Carmack makes the best engines, not the best games but the best games :) Imagine where we would be with out him.
I just get an apache test page, are you sure it's up? ;)
time to add advertising.slashdot.com so I can block shit like this.
In sweden you can get 26MB/sec up and down for 49$ Here's the proof!
Does OS X count, when they sum up all the BSD machines?
Install Fire-warners instead, and keep a fire extinguisher ready.

BitTorrent power!!
No need to post Wired articles all the time. If you like them so much you might as well go there and read them everyday.

Yeah, hopefully. Maybe people need to flip a switch first ;)
Uh oh, now the discussion will become yet another BitTorrent FaQ thread.
I think Apple should keep the aqua look, this new look, isn't as nice as the current.
I see no need to have every application in a metal theme. All the apple apps are enough.

I for one hopes they run the same sort of commercials that they did when they introduced the G3

Slashdot sucks. Oh yeah, we'll be back.
