Well, in 20 years time, when DELL is even bigger, MS would be giving DELL a 50% cut in the price of windows that gets thrown into a machine, if DELL is a major near monopoly on machine making.
sex games havent been explored much, a little in the past on some amigas by hackers etc... but nothing major, perhaps because they are scared to be in that industry, but they can always use a subsidery to hide in.
Specific porn people might enchance their Dvd interactiveness to the max, or make some PC based game, but nothing massive.
But most games are based on some real life event, unless its a puzzle wierd game like tetris.
So until we develop some insane AI that thinks like a 12 year old, we are doing still the normal thing, 'simming' real life with art.
Most people dont have more than 4gig of ORIGINAL music that they own any way, so if only 5% of people have 10000+ mp3s and the rest of the population on average has 50+CDS, that would fit onto their ipod.
You can program on papar, its called planning/specs.
Networks arent needed, not all programming is pretty web based GUI for an oracle DB back end. (boring)
You can program embedded devices, kernels, actual real.exe apps with manuals. Bios's for devices. Mobile phone OS's (no we dont call em cell phones)
Besides, once you know how to program damn well, networking/admin is a one hand job, ie its just learning how to control other apps if you want to simplyfy it.
But one person can't do a job of 10 people, so everyone has their place and we all work in a team all depending on each other, so no one useless, or inferior, though different jobs have different levels of technical learning/ability/scope.
oh wheres the honesty in the govt of taking cash from you for doing nothing, its legalized stealing thats what it is. Just like mafia , but legal coz its them. Its not protecting local industry coz little bobby wouldnt have bought the $3k laptop in the UK in the first place, besides its only resellers that are being protected, not honest working factories.
No it wouldnt, that $1m loss for BA would be tax deductable, and thats $300k less tax income or so for the govt. So they got screwed there.
Bottom line is, any time a govt anoys any person, its 2-10x loss for their one time gain, ie. if they screw me over for whatever reason, like a fine or anything, I'l make sure I buy 10x value of that fine of foreign products on purpose, or anything minor. Sure its meaningless on the surface, but it is real in monetory terms, they will GET LESS in the end, even if they cannot work out WHY they got less.
Say you bought it of a friend in the UK when he went to the USA 4 months ago. (dont buy ultra super new laptops for this). Say he upgraded to a newer one with a 4x burner and 1gig ram and give em lotsa technical details (hopefully the customs guy isnt an ex-dotcom techy, though they usually are old farts).
But when leaving australia i never saw any declaration forms for pc items. Or even when leaving/entering countries in europe.
But seriously, how much can a country loose in lost duty/taxes if they just ignored it all. Theres only so much limited items that can be carried by X millions of flyers. They cant carry 72 million laptops or 4000 tonnes of gold yearly.
Re chocolate, they give you chocolate on the plane, so why not just carry it with you in your jacket.
You can always say, "its my companies" and not mine.
or
"I just inherited it from my uncle who died... boohooo *cry* *sob*"
but the best way to get thru the green area is to first buy 1 excess bottle of drink and ask the person at the green gate, "is it ok, we have 3 bottles instead of 2" and they will think you are very innocent and honest for asking about that and assume everything else is 100% honest, and just let you in.:)
But dont put the laptop in a flashy laptop bag, use an old worn backpak, install linux on it (diff part) or set its bios to ultra slow mode, so when booted you can show em, "look its a P3-400mhz" real old shite!!
ive travelled around the world, and never once they gave any tags or even asked. Well , at least europe/asia. They just xray it , and carry on.
Besides how can a clueless, unintelligent, only good enough for a security job person with no other skills possibly have a clue on how much a laptop is worth, they all look the same.
As long as you dont carry 4 of the laptops with you, it sok.
Just get a few cds with you and fill the desktop with 100 icons and a funky desktop and 2gig of mp3s crap and they will think its 'used' alright.
Put a hellokitty sticker on the cover or a linux sticker, that will make it look 'old' too.
Its a pitty dell cant post it to UK for $50 or something, but they probly dont want to undercut their local 'arm'. So much for free trade, what a joke eh.
The reason the UK is expensive, is because of the 25% sales tax VAT. In that case, im surprised there is any laptop resale industry in the UK if anyone could fly to the US to buy one cheaper.
Why cant japan with its billions of spare cash, put some $ in russia, its own 2b program is a joke, so why not go in partnership with russia for $20b a year. Bargin... better spent cash than buying US$ in currency markets to make sure the US$ doesnt fall too far compared to the yen ($300b so far).
Unless there is some obscure treaty after WW2 that said Japan can only get help from USA.
Sounds like the opposite of whats going on in au, but on the other hand a solution...hmmm
Perhaps the only sollution is a total market economy collapse so no one has money to watchtv/cable/ps2's etc... and has to read/learn via FREE BOOKS and talking.
Yes, everyone works too hard, not enough 'good' techy jobs. Maybe 4days a week for everyone would fi xit all, and increase employment, and give everyone more time with their kids etc...
Because the more dumbasses there are, the more money I can make, the more jobs I can take with less competition. The more people I can sell my 'goods' to at inflated prices. Im sick of so many so called 'smart' people lieing their ways into jobs these days, I wish more people drank 12 beers a day and becames real stupid.;)
That was the only thing that sucked about the game, that it DIDNT USE any 3d hardware, so on a powerfull machine, it still ran like a crap PC, but a bit faster.
But all that had to be done was what quake1/2 did, and have a software renderer built in, or use DX/OGL.
This is where the sims failed in the technical arena.
I did hear it was HELL to port sims to the mac since so much of the code had win32 specific calls in places (no macros or layers or C++ classes), and also lots of endian specific stuff.
This project is a (crude) copy of an American/Canadian design that you can read about at the EPI centre. Another document can be downloaded (in.pdf Acrobat format) from here - Richard Perez article (Use 'save-target-as'). This one is very good and includes how to build regulators and the priniples of charging batteries (accumulators). I've wanted to make something like this for ages. We had a power cut last week and another yesterday, so that was all of the encouragement that I needed to give it a go! What you see in the picture below is a first attempt. The battery terminal voltage when running is 14.2 volts which is the correct charging value (give or take a little), however, I do not have a high current ammeter, so can only guess at the charging current and I do not have a suitable load to see what it can manage to supply. I have a high power (600w) inverter on order with Satcure audio, when that arrives, I'll be able to do some load tests by adding on 240v, 100w bulbs one at a time.
Hopefully you can see what it is, a lawnmower engine driving a car alternator (with built in regulator) charging a car battery, the whole lot is bolted onto a piece of board. The 12 volts can be used as if, lots of equipment can be powered from 12 volt or you can connect an inverter. The disadvantage of using the 12 volts directly is the size (thickness) of cables you need for more powerful equipment, but it is safer than 240 volts AC!
Real never made their own codec to begin with, Dolby did. Real Audio was nothing more than a 'modded' or their own implementation of the Dolby patented and licencable AC3net version of AC3 codec thats used on DVDs.

1mile = 1.6km , not 1.3km
im being picky, but this is the exact reason why we get samn stupid NASA mistakes and morons not knowing the basics in their head.
I thought the soviets backing down was a big fake and they are in 'covert' soviet mode to come back later. Maybe just scare tactics.
Maybe they are both 'allies' but the big defense contracters are laffing for making ($340 billion *30years) worth of sales, I would be too.
I hear a new war is starting/being planned perhaps(read http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGATAIXMESD.html)

FF11 is basically on the 40gig HD you buy, so there is no DVD.
;-) not bad, but pitty its $100, since a 40gig should cost $30+$30 for game.
Its basically a 40gig cartridge
But will that HD be usuable for anything else besides FF stuff?
If you own an ipod and you are going to rip music, why would you waste your time with mp3, and leave it with itunes AAC default?
Besides, winamp can play it etc...
AAC is the way to go
Most people dont have more than 4gig of ORIGINAL music that they own any way, so if only 5% of people have 10000+ mp3s and the rest of the population on average has 50+CDS, that would fit onto their ipod.
Ok lets make a dir of 100000 files of everysone possible. Faked.
Make an app that generates these files then shares them.
If 100000 people run it, (well not only will we get 'bad' fake files, but RIAA might start sueing) then you can sue them for wrongfull sue.
At least it would use up all their resources if suddendly 50000 people have 100000 files each.
100% of gynacologists love their job too
100% of presidents love their job as well
0% of custom duties rectal examiners like their job.
Yep, programmers are gods ;)

A few months ago 2 guys were busted for being the major suppliers in all of usa of LSD, they were responsible for like 30% of all sales.
Their whole lab as in a disused silo facility. Totally sealed, no way in.
