    The way I started, was to learn every instruction set of a 6502 from a book, and virtual know half the op codes
    of hand in hex. This without a computer, just paper and pen. Write some small functions on paper too. Like for loops
    and atoi converters, and maybe sin(x) lookup calls.

    Then once you can convert hex/dec/bin in your head and know half the opcodes in hex, you can start proper assem coding
    on a computer to do cool funky stuff.

    Once you see you are repeating stuff often, you get to appreciate the concept of library functions and you build yourself
    a person toolkit api, micro libc hmmmmm. Then you implement half the apis in macros/functions.

    Once you see the high level of things, jumping to C/C++ is a piece of cake and you understand it all.

    Back in those days, they designed the system and invented the technology at the same time, and often in 6-12 month time tables, like
    hardcore engineers do. None of this, we'll coast along to drag our career path out to 25years to get a good pension.

    They said, we gota launch a moon orbit in 12 months, what do we need, ok build this and that ,get this ready, we'll sort out these missing
    bits later, and plugnpray.

    The days when engineers were the managers, then the accountants stepped in to control everything, and keep records of everything.

    Build stuff with 2x tollerence than spec, and nothing will fail. Build stuff like today just to spec with no flexibility and bang it all
    falls apart.

    If you select the right pacakges and not include useless crud like wav files or themes or IIS servers. You can make a trimmed
    custom XP using Embedded XP taking less than 300meg easily. Hell even 64meg if you are desperate.

    With all these tax increases and teachers asking for 10-20% in wage rises a year, and schools suddenly costing like whoooo 15x + what they did in 1990, home
    schooling shared with perhaps 4-5 local kids is the way to go. One wife or two can stop working, the family saves $20k in school fees, and the other 3 kids families
    can help offset pay them $1k-$2k a year instead. Everyone wins, no bad schools, no bad teachers, save lots of do$h! Even get pizza for lunch on fridays too, and
    if everyone finishes their work early in the day, they can then play sports or the Wii . Schools really are an outdated 19th century concept, micro classes are the answer.
    Teachers should quit their school and setup shop at home charging $4-5k per student and no more than 5 in the whole group.

    If your HDTV 1080 pixel (there is no I in LCD) can only show 1080p, then why deliver 720p via a signal and DEPEND on the hardware of the tv
    to upscale properly which it probably wont because its a cheap-ass box, with crappy scaling hardware $5 chips. I know some tvs cheat doing
    720p to 1080p conversion by downscaling to 520p then doubling the pixels, oh that is such a cheap code trick!!! lame!

    I guess the question is do we have more image scaling hardware in TVs or inside players.

    On the xbox, well it will eventually have hdmi onboard, but not now. So big deal if current people miss out, they
    can sell the xbox on ebay, and get a new one.

    If you are that cheap, supply a damn 5cent sticker in the box so I can label the power supply as "For Drill" or "For Sony Camera"

    Oh and one more thing, stupid WIDE BRICKS, that you cannot fit another plug next to it on a power board, this is spawned
    wider damn power boards, stupid TDC Power bricks.

    If mobile phones can have slim tiny adapters, why not other devices out there. I wish they could make an auto amp/voltage adapter too, perhaps
    with an extra serial IO line to request the vol/amp.

    Just look at the home hardware, varied yes, duplicate chips yes

    My DVD player+AnalogRecorder+80Ghd and my DigitalFreeTV Box w/80Gig and my CableTV/SatBox(no hd) and my xbox+250gHD all have common hardware wasted.

    Ie, mpeg2 decoders and harddisks and damn remotes, if only for ONE reason is to get rid of all the remotes.

    What we need is a common multimedia box or the consoles can do dual digital tuners + analogue with REPLACEABLE HD and built in DVD burner.

    Analogue comes with many PC digital tuners on the same chip, or $5 chip, why cannot retail setup boxes do that aswell as default, not a $300 markup addon.

    I got damn hate these solutions with no replaceable harddrives, they are cheap and getting cheaper, SELL THE DAMN machines without a harddrive as an option
    and go and pick one up your self, im sick of 2-3x markup prices on these lounge room solutions. Stupid cable companies using R-tard marketing saying
    we will have 250gig massive HD recording in the future, well sorry, you can buy 700gis TODAY!. SATA drives clipped into a plastic casing then slotted into
    a device would be a better solution, then the hardware can reformat/system it from ROM. I know engineers want this, but business analysts say NO! because they
    can't fake their high profits.

    People want convergence because they are getting sick of all the cable mess, 50 inputs and outputs and a mix of signal types from svhs/component/hdmi.

    And I wish companies standardized on machine widths, some are too narrow 10inchs, and some are too wide, nearly 19ins. Stick to 1/2 cabinet width dudes, about 13inchs, the old VCR
    widths.

    Exactly, MS screwed up not doing a 100% perfect xbox1 emulator on the 360, even if it required them
    to redownload new binaries or make a program do realtime optimizations taking 10minutes.

    As you release new systems, the old ones still sell in cheaper markets, there by increasing you base massively.

    5x more poor people than rich people can have a better say.

    Eventually, all those ps2 people will get a ps3, even if it is in 2010. But all those xbox1 people will go anywhere, not guaranteed to a 360.

    Sony with all their mistakes, did one thing right, they turned games into something as basic as movies on VHS, they just work, on any machine, regardless
    , just plug it in and bingo it popsup, even if its from 1995 it works in a 2006 machine, just as VHS tapes do.

    Ironically, Sony learned from the VHS BETA wars, and that is its a must to run X content ANY WHERE, but its not critical that its the BEST, but just GOOD enough
    and not UTTER CRAP.

    More eyes equals more sales, which equals more profits which equals being number 1.

    I do agree MS has better software, etc... Sony is like a school kid amature, they need to spend 10x more on software, ie HIRE 50 geeks damn it, is it that
    hard to develop a damn IDE (using eclipse) to make PS3/2 games via some java/c++ opengl api that works on ps2/3/macs/windows/linux ?

    Pay the damn geeks $120k ea, they will leave their current jobs for that. Sony you have lots of dollars, why waste it on utterly useless LAWYERS, (as useless as
    a CHOCOLATE KETTLE) , lawyers dont MAKE any thing, they are not CREATIVE.

    Btw, what happened to the Connectix PS1 emulator, it rocked, and yes its good, is that what Sony ported to the PsP??? A little slow and why the need for
    hardware ps1 emu, when that did it well, what is that development team doing, they were good at connectix, where are you!!>!?!? Tell those
    business ANAL-LYSTS to get a clue, make a ps1 EMU for windows 100% FREE that will get even more people buying ps1 games from Sony Online Entertainment..

    No games analyst should be older than 35yo, otherwise, they are fakers and they should be sacked for no talent.

    Yeah, didn't take much effort here, just 10mins, and presto good as new. Retail is $16 or so USD, or $29 au.

    So all you others stop bitching about ipods batteries being not replaceable, they are easy for anyone with
    a decent IQ, though not your typical housewife pushing 50, get the kids to do it. Geeks, no problem.

    I love it when you see those rich hippies in the valleys complaining about wind power, yet the farmers
    dont seam to mind having 1000s of cows walking around, yeah they look pretty in the green distance, but they
    make more pollution, eat too much, and shit too much and for little benefit, they require too much energy to put in to
    make something usefull, ie food.

    Wind turbines only effect the lower layer of winds, its not like they are 2000feet HIGH!!! and besides there are different
    types too, the tubular ones. And I thought birds are smart, they wouldnt be so stupid as to constantly die in the blades.
    If you are that concerned , then what about all the birds who die when hit by cars or trucks or eaten by feral cats.

    If we had 2000watt panels and a small wind generator in EVERY house in a city of 5million, it would save a significant amount
    of power. Rich yuppies can do without them and pay 2x $$$ for their delivered power if they dont like the look.

    Besides if there are any natural disasters, or loss of grid power, you have at least enough to keep your essentials running.

    I thought most scientists used Julian date system, thats similar to a stardate, ie DAY.SEC from eons ago.

    Infact, dealing with YDM is a pain, and more complex and error prone than JD.

    And how many systems do need to know the date any way? Is it only the CRT displays? What timezone
    is the shuttle in, i assume they use Florida time.
