We have had both cable and sat. to compare the quialty difference on a HD television set. Sat. is very pixelated and generally quite bad quality...even the PPV channels which are supposed to have better quality. Cable is quite clear all the time (except for some lower number channels 70) - not to mention, in my area, cable is alot cheaper than sat service.

Also with cable, I can have interactive (On-Demand) service that's impossible for sat. to provide.

Webcam? God no!!!! Cameras are pretty useless when it comes to stuff like this. All they do is say, "Yep... someone stole the car!" Being someone that installs alarms and CCTV systems, here's some steps you could take:

First you should install a photo beam across your driveway and use EOL resistors to detect tampering. Have it connected to a outdoor/indoor siren to alert the homeowner and the neighbours. Use a self or central monitoring service to alert a pager. Use a decent system like Paradox and avoid mickey mouse systems like radio shack.

Also, this is probably the wrong place to come to ask about home security.

Coming from a 3D Graphics programmer, the NVidia is ALOT better than ATI.

My 3D terrain visualisation tool runs on OpenGL. I do think that ATI might be better at doing Microsofts Direct3D crap, they are certainly lacking with OpenGL optimisations.

I've done speed tests on higher end ATI and the fps was quite low.. somewhere around 15-20 fps. The NVidia (GeForce2 GO chipset) ranged from 35-45 fps.

Also, we all know that ATI and NVidia optimise their drivers for benchmarks, so wouldn't that make the benchmarks meaningless?
