  1. ELO Rankings on Chess Ratings — Move Over Elo · · Score: 1
Thought I'd list the official ELO Chess rankings for reference:
    1. Mr Blue Sky
    2. Rock And Roll is King
    3. Way Life's Meant to be
    4. So Serious
    5. I'm Alive
    6. Getting to the Point
    7. Don't Walk Away
    8. Turn to Stone
    9. Confusion
    10. Last Train to London

Currently I'm ranked 7th (Turn to Stone - yeah I suck), but managed to beat a 6th ranked player after a close match (luckily he lived up to his title), so I should hopefully rank up soon. Can't wait to meet the Mr Wood and Mr Lynne at the ranking ceremony which is held every month at The Ship Inn, Frimley, UK.

I too was a cynic about Bioshock 2, but then I played it. Have you? I actually thought Bioshock 2 was a fantastic sequel and the multiplayer actually worked really well. They made the multiplayer fit the setting (having it occur during Rapture's collapse) and utilised the Modern Warfare framework of levels, unlocks and challenges, all wrapped up in fantastic presentation in keeping with Rapture. Also the I don't think the single player game suffered at all, it was a superb game that in many aspects was superior to the original in my opinion.

I did the same at chapter 5.2 where you had to deal with 5 guilt patients in a row all under 10 mins. That just took the piss.

I'll still pick up the Wii version though, as it is an entertaining game and they have defibrillators included this time around!!. I just hope they fix the replayability as the DS had none. Yes, you could replay the DS operations in a time trial mode BUT all the tutor tips where left in! So trying to race against the clock but having to stop to page through information that you learnt the first time around just killed it.

Im thinking of something like Un..for Real.

Imagine if you will a large warehouse space with a modular system for constructing buildings. Then all participants, carry a prop gun to fire with and wear wireless VR headsets that provide all sounds and visuals - the visuals being mapped onto the real-life constructions/props, so you can have fancy textured walls, cool avatars, weapons etc.

Sort of like laser tag for the 00's.

Well... I would play it. :)

Akira Yamaoka's soundtrack is a key aspect of the Silent Hill experience and if they just fill it with goth metal/80's pop covers, i will weep.

There is only one legal music site that gets it right that im aware of, and that's Bleep. Download site of the wonderful warp label, home of Aphex and Autechre among others.

They have no DRM controls and have always had top quality mp3s. They are now starting to implement FLAC as well. If you like the type of music they provide, indie electronica / rock / hip hop etc, then I thoroughly recommend them.

According to the information at the end of the european press release:,
"For those European gamers still wishing to play with their American friends on the North American servers, and vice versa, Blizzard will provide a means to make this possible after the European launch."

So that part of your criticism is moot.

btw, I'm one of the many disappointed Europeans (UK) hoping to import, but now must wait for "early next year release" due to this regional lockout, bah! Though it doesn't matter too much, I still got HL2/CStrike:Source and GTA Andreas to waste my time on till then. :)

  13. The solution...STRIKE!!! on Star Wars Galaxies Users Restless Over Rebalancing · · Score: 5, Insightful
The easiest and most effective course of action would be for everyone to go on a one month strike.

Everyone(or a favourable majority) needs to band together and cancel their accounts for a period of one month. Then if the actions on SOE's part are still not satisfactory after this period, extend it to two months and so on.

If SOE counters by threatining the future of the game, then so what; it's just a game. Move on. The players need to be in control, after all it is your money.

If you simply roll-over and wait, nothing will change. Remember your sub is your vote, not some online petition or forum whine. Use it.

  14. Love it ! on Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas Details Revealed · · Score: 1

Through dozens of accurately modelled restaurants and other eateries, the criminal wannabe will be able to top up his stamina meter, and actually visibly gain weight. In fact, he can overdo it. Says Houser, "Playing a mission when you're a fat bastard and everyone call you a 'fat bastard' in the game world is an amazing experience." It makes the mission harder, but Carl can always go to the gym to burn it off, and then head back and blow the dissenter's head off with his newfound dual pistols. nuff said!

This game is taking an age to be released. Every preview I have seen so far about this game has been a bit vague about how the actual game will play. The trailer looks cool, but it would have been nice to see some hands on stuff.

Was hoping E3 would have delivered it, but alas :(

Refusing to purchase an X-Box - tho' KOTOR pushed me near to the edge - I guess I was one of the few Halo virgins that picked up a copy when it was released and have to say it is quite an entertaning fps. But worthy of the hype?

Mmm...Well I'd say yes. I felt it suffered from an over-long mid-section that seemed to "grind" on a few levels ( when following the drone, if that is the middle? as im still playing) but on the whole I am finding the two weapon limit, AI and shield system most refreshing. Also nice to see some Iain M Banks fans work at Bungie.

Definitly worth trying the demo if your an fps fan, but then I think you'd have bought it already if you were. And if your not, then maybe this might be the game that'll turn you.
