I know you CAN oppose to anything without knowing what you are talking about. It happens in religions, politics and everything else. But it's just stupid and I thought they were smarter than that. Yeah, I know I overestimated them.
So, are you really saying that you just *found out* how it works? So you pushed all the Napster lawsuit and all the ranting about file sharers WITHOUT knowing what you were talking about??
Damn, I perefered the old "We are evil Metallica Corp. lobying to squeeze every cent from our fans" speech that this new dumb and ignorant one.... This is so lame Lars.
Have you read 1984? They didn't only change/hide the news, but they rewrote history to back the fake news context.
Now, think of that... Think that Google hosts a big share of information and that share grows every year. Extrapolate that to 10 or 20 years. It doesn't seem so ridiculous, doesn't it?
And Coca-Cola should open source their recipee too! Cause they already have such a big market share that it would be impossible for anyone to beat them... C'mon!
The old "parents wanting to know where their children are" trick!
It wouldn't surprise me if media suddenly start to emphatize missing child cases...
What would you be teaching to your kid if you did that? Only that it is OK for an authority to know where they are/what they do, anytime... You'd be stripping away their right to privacy before they realize how important it is. If I need to hear from him, I'll just call him.
Move to free and open source alternatives. Problem solved. After all they are just 5 employees with a bunch of servers and workstations, right? It shouldn't be a Shakespearean dilema...
Don't change the subject! They've hired a bunch of H-1Bs, and I bet their employees didn't brush their teeth every day either... So F***ing what?? C'mon that's not the real issue and you know it.
The titles says that as if were a crime to employ foreign workers using H-1Bs, which is perfectly legal. And what's with the evil guy pictured in the article? Is he the investigator or an H-1B holder thinking how to take your job? What a load of BS!! Can't believe this made it to the frontpage of/. It's dissapointing.
I don't know you guys but I have just knew about this Bladerunner sequel and Leo "I'm the king of the world" DiCaprio doing Brave New World in the same post. Too much for me to handle in a single day... I'm going offline until tomorrow.
IMHO, it's an implementation problem. I would suggest IP to last 1-2 years, non-renewable. Then it would become public domain. It would democratize innovation and the incentive to invest in reseach will still be there.
You are trying to be funny right? Or you just opened your eyes?
In Argentina, if you want to start a new business you have to sign a US-provided paper and put your fingerprint on it stating that the busines will not support terrorists organizations. It IS a US-imposed requirement through the WTO or any other like that, can't remember exactly what agancy or boty required it. I know cause I had to do it. Regardless that I wouldn't support terrorist, and as stupid as it seems to me (Terrorist supporters tend to lie from time to time, you know) it, makes you wonder WTF?!
Just imagine what your face would be if you decide to form an LLC and they present you an argentine paper stating something like that and requiring to put your fingerprint on it.
Really, does anyone want to remember that eight-year nightmare?
Yes, is extremly important to remember, specially that eight-year nightmare to prevent it from happening again. You know the saying but here it is anyway:
Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it - Edmund Burke
Even if it isn't deleted, try to recover a simple 10Mb jpg using an electron microscope... I guess it is as close to the "next to impossible" as if the file was deleted.
Our ancestors were all strong and built like Schwarzenegger before the Predators came and hunted them down.
..but you can kiss your windows updates goodbye MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

How much energy can it take to spot someone, point and shoot the attached gun and crawl to it before other predators take the body?
Future posts will be along the lines of: "..I remember when their first prototypes appeared, we joked about them"
...but you can never be to careful so: Remember to include the CIA backdoor guys! Thanks!
PS: Tinfoil won't protect you from it!

How do you propose to land on a 10 meter wide asteroid?
We'll go in Soviet Russia. As we all know, the asteroid will then land on us then.
