You've been so into your own intrests for so long that you never seemed to notice that starting with XP, i never need to reboot..net server, also the same. im beta testing sms2003, and i should add that its on its way to being that dream utility.
The quote, is not UnitedLinux's issue to worry about. Software has nothing to do with electromagnetic interference or any of that. They need to worry more about making linux suitable for my grandma than seismic activity in hardware.
I agree that microsoft should at least be somehow punished for violating the agreement. But sun's attitude toward the situation is completely rhetoric. Why isn't Sun suing old linux distros for distributing an old version of JVM? Because they know that those distros have no potential except for those who use them and then they expect it to be crappy for the most part. They know microsoft is a threat to them with.NET and thats the reason why they waited until now to sue. Sun is just being a little cry baby like netscape, palm and Be conspiring to attack the competition through the legal system. they might as well form partnerships to compete with them, so they can have more resources and fight on all fronts as MS. tough luck to them for being stupid and cry babies.
Honestly, I think it was an overambitious idea to acquire time warner, with the goal in mind that AOL would market TW products and services and vice versa. All I can say, is that if this was the goal, a partnership would have been a wiser choice. It would have acheived the same effect, IMO.
slashdotus rejectide is experienced by the frequent setback, and often rejection of seemingly plausible stories; which all while seem postworthy to it's submitter, are continuously letdown into a spiral of depression.
well, it is funny how some geeks were just so damn sure that p2p was invincible from the law. Similarly, Al-Qaeda belives they are invincible as well.
Goodbye, KaZaa!
Not only is this an amazing story, but it really is noteworthy in its own respect to see how it overall leads one to conclude that the free software community is having alot of trouble taking off; seeing how it is surprising to realize that there is this subconcious fact brewing in everyone's mind which leads them towards an description; having no sense of what success is using rhetoric to spread sacreligious beliefs and views about the way it should be done, considering Lennon was using tactics approximately close to what could be described as an apparant reason contrasted to the opposistion's arguments, then branching off another seemingly apparant and obvious reason in contrast to the defense of the argument, and continuing this way we see a pattern which is not to help those in any way, but rather to destroy capitolism, and that was his goal -- and people bought into that, and most have failed.
Bob is a great member for the IETF's mailing list. It is not everyday that people are actually watching out for special occassions such as the 20th aniversary of the Internet using the TCP/IP protocol. The NCP protocol is so old that it is basically unheard of today. I know that there will be more than one New Years Eve for us this week! Nobody can predict what the internet would be like if ARPANET was still using the NCP protocol for internet communications. All I can say about that is, maybe it is time for the Internet's Rebirth and phase out TCP/IP for something that is easier on the internet's precious bandwidth and high latency.
what was the purpose of this? Couldn't they have just used digital imaging to make it look like it was deteriorating? I know that they were just trying to test the laws of nature, trying to see if decaying film actually decays!
that was slightly off topic, but im not going to moderate that. i see where you are comming from, but that doesn't mean you should be ranting on MS and open source like that. I belive the origional topic was about the Microsoft eBook reader security being cracked. I belive Adobe had a problem with this a while back, which wasn't too long ago. Good for Adobe, and Good for Microsoft's eBook reader. We thank them.
If this is true, which I am simply too lazy to confirm, if it is at all possible; then that's great for Microsoft. Continue to make a big fuss about Microsoft for being lame, insecure, expensive, dirty, evil, etc. and be rewarded! This will help boost popularity for all, and thou shall be rewarded with negative influence on Microsoft in the feedback loop which is created through slashdot. ebooks are not even that popular, and so it comes to my attention that by you trying to downplay MS, you make this virtually unknown product known into existence; thus furthering its market presence, by only allowing themselves to sit back and wait for someone to find a hole for them to fix immediately and let it be known publically so that people know about ebook reader every time they come to a website that seems to care, for the most part. I thank you for your concern.
this is all talk without proof of concept. they aren't the first ones to create a robot, and I have yet to actually see this in action. if they are simply trying to stifle competition, maybe they aren't really paying attention to what the competition has already done. im sure a robot that can walk on its own and keep its balance is the last thing on the list of things to do. I'm surprised they havn't tackled AI first, which would save alot of time on the movements and such. Much less, if it could even have a good eye sight, then it would be ok; but as far as it looks right now, they appear to be static pre-programmed robots that have to know the environment before it can actually work. it would remind me of a little toy that jumps around, when it gets tipped over, would look all retarded trying to jump on it's side, only spinning around in circles.
a bootable business card.. that sounds like a highly unpractical invention, if it would be an invention at all. talk about over kill just to give someone a way to contact you. ever thought about using magnetic strips on cards? or old fashioned ink? im sure the busy CEO you want to ink a deal with wouldn't even bother figuring out how to "boot" a business card. Oh well, I can't get this guys number and I'm too busy, toss it in the garbage.
yes, it is true that microsoft has alot of security flaws and they get the appropriate amount of flame for it, but the irony is how the open source losers completely ignore all the flaws that are publically addressed regarding their own "kind" get dismissed on grounds of "who cares? its been fixed.", "it's not that significant, its open source!"
There are ways to synthetically create diamonds; which are worth nothing in the jewelry market. but then again what geek wouldnt buy a 14k diamond for his love?
so, basically java and mozilla suck and that is why they are being such whining babies about microsoft being the bully and crying to mommy justice?

this would never happen, at least anytime in the forseeable future.

MS java has no fatal problems, except that it is just as slow as on any other operating system.
well, if FreeBSD is ported to Alpha, they don't have much to do in terms of porting.

real geeks know that intelligence doesn't require any foreign "subtances" to get high.
::::subcontious thoughts block out stupid idea and blame weed::: awesome idea i had last night!"
"damn! i wish i remember that
Some people just can't relate. Watch as that stupid chemistry formula gives you the key to learning the entire class's personalities in one shot.

lol. who would use a program that pretended to be a word processor? Yeah, you can't type up a document with Word anymore!
"Could this be grounds for another anti-trust suit against Microsoft?"
Only as long as people continue to use the definition of monopoly, as stated in the dictionary:
1. COMMERCE noun A company you do not like because of a product they made; who has complete control over their product's market supply.
you can't always be sure that whatever these ideas are in your head were contributed by a cognition of ideas from that company.
