As afraid as the telcos may be, I think that they still have a strong foothold both in the wireless phone world and the fact that there is never enough bandwidth.

With a phone line and broadcast/cable tv, there is never a bandwidth problem. The TV station can send their signals over the air and from that point anyone can recieve as much of their programming as they want. As we start routing everything over IP, we had better hope that new technologies emerge to provide guaranteed connection availability and bandwidth because nobody wants their Desperate Housewives to be laggy.

No settings to mess with if the wifi hotspot isnt working, no problems you cant deal with on the road. Apple laptops are great machines in all respects (the only PC laptops that come close are IBM) and when you are using it as a portable system, OSX is going to present less problems.

If you dont enjoy your major, get out of it. What I think is really cool about schools like the University of Chicago is that they force a fairly wide spread of classes on their students and then dont let them formally declare a major until end of their sophomore year. This forces many a student to discover new things and pick something they like.

You will always find that most students swing towards the left. We did this exact thing (and a few other tests) as a class and even the kids who would support bush if he wanted to invade france ended up to the left of where they should. The key becomes that they hold their parents beliefs on a large scale (and thus support a specific party) but on a smaller issue based scale, they swing left in many ways (excluding those topics that have been widely politicized). At that stage in life, even those that will end up to be strongly conservative often do not fully understand the implications of their answers.

An example would be the sex question. I know a lot of stupid people who would definately consider themselves strongly right that would answer the liberal way. They are teenagers, of course they will go for sex. An example in the opposite direction is the free trade one. If you dont know what is meant by free trade, a highschool kid will definately say "hey its a free country so it should be completely free trade."
