  1. Wasn't there already..... on Nintendo Eyeing the Big Screen · · Score: 0

Wasnt there already a Mario based cartoon? I know there is/was a Kirby.

I would like to see a big screen adaptation of StarFox. So many stories to tell.....

  2. Its in bad taste, but... on New Video Game Recreates Kennedy Assassination · · Score: 1
The idea of the game is in seriouly bad taste. I don't mind assassination games, but try to keep the people and events made up. I'm sure no one would condone a GTA mod depicting the death of Princess Diana. Or a game that let you be Mark David Chapman, David Berkowitz, Jeffery Dahmer, or Richard Ramirez.

We will never know the whole story of the Kennedy Assasination, even after the remaining sealed files are mad public.

  3. Why 2012... on Kyoto Treaty to Enter Into Force · · Score: 1
They picked 2012 because all the politicians who signed on are hoping that by the time 2012 hits we as world, or they as a nation will have developed a truly viable alternative to fossil fuels. We may hit upon it, I hope we do, but i think its its pie in the sky planning.

We (US) are going to be pariahs for not signing on. But people dont respond by pointing out WWII debts. They were never going to be repaid, we knew it going in.

The treaty was not ratified, by us. It will be ignored by China, because they want to build a bigger economy than the US. It will be ignored by Russia because of the pervasive amounts of corruption in the system. Im sure some of the smaller EU nations will abide by it. But they have a nation that has a more highly concentrated population, that already embraces public transportation.

The US needs to defend its position by developing the alternative. If we produced a affordable fuel-cell power it would justify our not signing.

Homer Simpson said Solar Power is pipe dream.

  4. Adapt the I-PASS on California Considers Tracking Your Car · · Score: 1

Why not adapt the I-Pass system from Illinois Tollway, its an existing system and the cost of development would be alot less than a new one.

Even though I agree that we as a nation drive to much. We dont have the public transportation systems in place to really get over our car addiction. The American dream of a house in the burbs, and the idea that we are entitled to this, has essentially doomed us to this fate.
This proposition will probably be defeated by public opinion. Its a tax that will adversly effect the drivng poor who must commute long distances for jobs that have moved out of the urban centers.

  5. No one ever accounts for the NIMBY on Will Wind Power Change Earth's Climate? · · Score: 2, Insightful

If you were to a process to harness good intentions for power, prove that its 100% clean, safe and 110% effecient, there would still be people screaming NOT IN MY BACKYARD.

  6. Reform the Process on 2004 Election Weirdness Continues · · Score: 1

We need as a matter of reform to standardize the method of voting used within the country. Every town in every county, in every state should use the same machine, with the same formated card. In the future I would like to see a secure system that utilizes the magnetic strip on the back of your license, in concert with a pin number, or your SSN as a system for making sure people are voting only once.

  7. Limit and Crew on NASA Considering Early Retirement of Shuttle Program · · Score: 1

Limit the remaining time to building the ISS and the repair of Hubble.

On the ISS missions limit the crew to 3 people, a pilot, the commander/co-pilot and a payload specialist.

On the Hubble missions only the necessary crew, a pilot, co-pilot, 2 people to carry out the repairs.

Then lets restasrt work on the Venture Star. The design is sound, we need a bitmore work witht he material science but it should be completed in under a decade.

Once complete, land the shuttles, decom them, and divy them up between the great science museums of the US.

The next generation "disposable" can supply the station, launch probes, and satelites.

And finally NASA, reduce the bean counters.

  8. I like the idea of more descriptive TLDs on Two New TLD's Near Approval · · Score: 1

I like the idea of more descriptive TLDs. But .travel? .museum, thats to much typing for the average American.

IMHO, a TLD of no more than 3 letters is best. It lends itself to a format that people have become comfortable with.

Now, why doesn't ICANN make the TLDs ".sex", or ".xxx" available.

  10. No matter who the actor is someone will be unhappy on Superman Set To Fly · · Score: 1

No actor really encapulates Superman. They are either too young, too short, wrong hair color (Val Kilmers Batman) to wirily (Val Kilmer), or just plain wrong for the role - again Val Kilmer as Batman.

I think it was Roger Ebert who said something to the effect of "superheros should be cast by thier chins", this is how we got George Clooney as Batman, who wasnt bad, I think he was the best Bruce Wayne, and he had the best chin in the batsuit.

Point being one actor will never really measure up. Christopher Reeve was very close - but he wasnt ripped enough, Dean Cain was ripped but he was not physically imposing. The kid on Smallville works well because, he is a kid, and this is Clark as a kid.

I think Superman should be animated, and done in the style of the the Justice League on Cartoon network.
Comics are cartoons - Live action will NEVER measure up.

IMHO - The best comic - bigscreen transfer was Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

Back in days when Valenti was able to spawn they just carved another rock, or painted on another cavewall.
But today if you have young children you almost have to immediately back up a DVD or CD, if you don't it will be covered with fingerprints, crayon, or get used as frisbees.

  16. Re:TiVo - for them, not for you on Jack Valenti: The Exit Interview · · Score: 1

  17. why was it on the road to begin with. on Student Killed Driving Solar Car · · Score: 2, Insightful

The more important issue here IMHO is why was it on the road to begin with.
The articale makes no mention of the school, the students, or anyone involved working with local law enforcement agencies to setup a safe route of travel. MAybe they could not close the entire highway but a police escort with the lights flashing could have made people more aware, of the car and maybe the wreck could have been avoided.
