I loved D&D - It gave me and my friends something to do in a small town before we all got AppleIIes in the mid 80's.
Even after I moved to the "big" city and went to college we all still managed to get together to play on the weekends. I happened to live with a guy whose mother and father worked for TSR, which gave us access to copies of every thing ever printed.
All was gravy until one of our group joined a cult(and I do not mean a mainstream religion) and "decided" it was the tool of the devil.
Now we're all in our 30's and married - we still play once in a while - tho kids and wives make for some disjointed and often interupted sessions.
Ill give it a shot.
But be prepared for some hokey stuff in 13 episodes the powers that be have to reestabish a plot, AND figure out a way for the new cylons to track the humans. My guess is that they[writers] will work in some sort of tracking device in the lone cylon on board the galactica, or she (since it was revealed to be the asian pilot) will sabotage some system to send a signal.
Hopefully there will some subplots showing the suvivors of the attacks on the homeworld.
I think Empire has the least intruse "ehancements"
The extra fighter in the A New Hope looked outta place, and the cantina scenes do not even merit responses. OFr the most part Empire limited its intrusive CGI to Cloud City and it sorta helped out it in my book.
It was the analog wrist watch that they used to devise a crude compass.
Keep the hour hand on the Sun and North will be halfway between it and the minute hand.
The ION engines provide a very small amount of thrust. Getting the shuttle to escape velocity with them in thier current state would be impossible. They (ION E's) are meant for good for slow yet steady accelleration.
In the mid to late 60's NASA was working on a more powerfull system called NERVA - Nuclear Engine for Rocket Vehicle Applications, Basically you used a small nuclear reactor to superheat a chamber, the you shoot hydrogen into the chamber, the hydrogen is excited and it exits the chamber producing a huge amount of thrust.
These engines had the thrust and endurance to make Mars a 90 day trip. But they had draw backs.
the biggest was wieght not only from the reactor but from the sheilding for the crew compartment.
By the time the technology became viable the granola eaters began to get jittery about a reactor in space.
Maybe they should just give us the money and help out with some manufacturing.
We've already developed the basic hardware
We've demonstrated the ability to land on other celestial bodies and return astronuats safely
We've just demonstrated our ability to land on Mars.
I'd love to see NASA and the US do it alone - but i think the possiblility of going to Mars is greater if we apply what we know, and pool our resources.
My parents are bird watchers and have created a "bird friendly" backyard meaning feeders, baths, a small pond, and trees and shrubs that birds like. (tho how "community" figured out a bluebird prefers a certain kind of house is beyond me.
Anyway my point is with all the little feathered friends flying around I have never seen one hit a window. So if one billion are killed every year, which would be like 3 for every man, woman or child in the US alone, shouldnt I see like 6 birds hit the glass every year.
Weren't the Viking probes powered by some sort of plutonium or uranium / ceramic batteries -
they lasted for years.
If NASA is concerned about dust build up on the panels don't use them.
If they are concerned about dust on the camera lenses perhaps they could lease the "on car" camera technology from CART or NASCAR.
As for Aerosmith - they even less to do with science (unless your a chemist) than they do with football. - They and all the popstars f'up my Monday Night Football Intros, and now they delay delay NASA TV, Im gonna pirate thier latest album just to delete it.
I gave in and watched BSG and it was ok. The uni's were a bit to Babylon 5 for me but all in all it was better than watching reruns.
My only real complaint with it was that the end of civilation was brought about by a blonde. And history has shown us time and again that it's the brunettes that are responsible for strife, Helen of Troy, Cleopatra the list could go on.
I would be willing to play this if I didn't have to shell out 50 bucks - why not offer a d/l ver that I can install and just begin making my monthly crack payments.
"Now, however, the couple's most important goal is to relocate to an exotic destination in this galaxy: Las Vegas."
So he's a guy with a addictive peronality traits, and he is moving to Vegas?

I know I'll probabaly get flamed for this but I miss this show.
That all the electronics are built by Fiat?? I think its a witch -
... .mob, for the "family" business
Ill give it a shot.

Now that that is pointed out - it seems more correct. My point is still valid - you can navigate with it

The problems the rovers have had have cut into thier research time - due to the dust build up on thier respective solar panels.
Nasa, next time take a lessen from the past and harness the power of the atom - the Viking probes lasted for years.

I dont mind paying a few bucks for Linux. A couple of bucks for the ISOs is better than say 200 for the pretty box.
