That is the problem we have here. The old folk who did shed blood for thier freedom saw it as achievement. Then later, government upgraded "freedom" to "freedom and safety", and made it a service. Now, people are born into a world, not knowing that some had fought for it to be like that, it is just a service they have the right to. Now, these modern folks will not fight, because they would fight those that provide the service and the safety. Even if "freedom" is not included in the service any more, at least "safety" will.

there are also shift of paradigms in science... example: new types of coprocessor, new compiler technology, new math!... and so on...
also as example: the Poem@home protein folding project: the GPU:s calculated so fast, that the human resources was not enough to deal with the results...

I could see such a deep hatred glowing in her eyes, that it gave me an out of body experience almost... And that hatred was towards the pathetic minion (me) sitting and struggling to fix her pc, while giving crappy excuses.
