I know it won't be simple and elegant with style like the iPod, I can see it now, alot of useless buttons on the side, three or four different colours of plastic, a brand name, a company name, a weird logo, and a bunch of clutter on the device in different fonts/etc. They will find a way to make it all stupid and "cool" like cellphones, just like when I saw this oriental girl with a cellphone with a round screen, hello kitty background, and a bunch of other crap. If it is from sony it just won't be the same, as the simple, yet elegant iPod.
I'd like to see the process of creating a PowerMac G5 case, or somthing from IBM, since they create most of the stuff that they use, unlike Sony, Toshiba, etc.
How can people possibly be using MSIE 1.x and Netscape 2.x? I would also like to note it is sad microsoft can get almost 60% of marketshare for their new brower just by intergrating into the OS, and people will use it, they have a good technique of forcing things down people's throats, kind of disgusting to me actually... You can't use IE 10 min without being infected with some sort of spyware/adware too, I think Mozilla/Netscape deserve the marketshare.
The whole idea of sitefinder is "implemented" by other companies, and this destroys all of the "competition", so how are we the anti-capitalist saying others should be able to handle DNS errors their own way, rather than have them shove their stuff down our throats using somthing that goes against RFC, they are one of the most important companies to run the net, and they don't obide basic RFC, I think the gov't should step in and take away their.com and.net privledges away and give them to someone we can trust...
This grant sounds to me like some people that have no clue of what to do with their money.
There are probably real researchers studying cancer or some biotech that need the money.
I don't get it.
I agree with you 100%, art is a part of culture, and it is a waste of time and energy. Society will not mature until the envy and "need" for these things is gone. Putting money into arts and humanities is just a big waste, while it could be put into things like medical research, and ways to make life better.
Since they suck air from the back and blow it to the front, I wonder how many they could have infront of another, keeping the air flowing, it seems they would work fairly well setup like that, and save alot of space. I wonder how many computers it could go through them until it gets too hot.
Maybe the kids bought the game and/or console thorugh walmart or circuit city. I'm 16 and buy my games that are rated M from them, and they don't check it, it is still the parents fault for not keeping an eye on their children, and where did they get the gun? Their parents? It's not Take Two/Rockstar/Sony's fault.
My only question I have for you is how can you be tethered by a one button mouse if all the programs are desinged for a one button mouse? Professional-level or not, Apple feels the one button standard is the way to go, and they have since the early days, and won't go back no matter what, so don't keep waiting, go get another laptop with a 2nd button you will never use.
I didn't even notice those were registered wrong at first. One has to ask why why we bother to spell things right too in elementary school if we can read and communicate in a proper way without having to spell everything right. We need to make our language adjust to people and not the other way around. You aren't any more smart if you can spell correctly or not.
.. now verisign is no better than lop.com and other programs that Hi-Jack IE and do the same they do. The internet is getting ruined by MS and VeriSign, I wish that the "big three" (win, mac, lin) were more equal, then the internet would be somewhat less degraded. I hope the US government takes away the priviledge they gave to NSI/VeriSign and hands it to a more responsible company. It's not like.COM is like.tk where they can advertise like that,.COM is most of the net, so they are on a higher playing ground.
In 1994, a bunch of companies started desinging Diesel-Electric Hybrids because of some new law going to be passed. The law wasn't passed, so they were never designed, and they could make SUV's and sell them to soccer moms easier, as soccer moms are braindead and see bigger as better, not more efficient as better.
The Prius is a really good car, my friends dad has one, and it rides smooth and quiet. It gets great gas milage, and rides smoother than my friends Altima. The 2004 Prius will be $18 grand, and the used ones will be cheaper. Maintenance is just the same as a conventional car, and the cost is turning the same into a conventional car. If you are idling, the wasted power goes to the battery, and if the battery fills up, the motor turns off. I don't know why they don't use these for Taxi's in New York, because the more you stop and idle, the better milage you get because it uses the electric motor more. I don't see any reason NOT to get a Hybrid. Ford is even working on a Hybrid Explorer.
And the Hybrid cars don't have expensive maintenance, they have just the same maintenance as a normal car, and a baseline 2004 Prius is only $18k new, and you can get used ones for about as much as a conventional car.
As soon as the adware marketing plan is fully legitimized, then there will be tons of things that include adware. All computers will come equipped from the manufacturer with adware installed.
They already do come with adware equiped, windows xp is full of ads for third parties, like cdnow on a folder full of mp3's, and don't forget the default windows 98 sidebar thing with the disney ads and such that they call "entertainment".
On a different note, I wonder if ther are any operators who still keep logs.
If by operator you mean system admin, and by system admin, you mean windows admin, it keeps a log for you, and have you ever seen one of those logs? They are alwyas filled with errors, if they still kept logs, all their wrists would be worn out. However, that doesn't keep sys admins from having a sore wrist.
SCO got more than 900 calls the first week after announcing the licensing program, Stowell said. Of those, 300 were serious inquiries
I suppose 2/3 of them were pissed off slashdot trolls, and the other 1/3 of them were slashdotters trying to act serious about it, I talked to an operator a long time about it acting serious and asking exactly what I was buying, I hope alot of other slashdotters do too
Woah, I voted and it said 1337 voted, i'm the 1337est!

The logitech io digital pen can be found cheaper here. Don't give in to posting thinkgeek url's for karma.
Graphic emoticon support! Soon slashdot will be just as cool as MSN 6 and those boards that are full of emoticons, images, etc.
Once I got a computer fan and put a USB cord on it, I lost it though, you can make it faster and faster if you just daisy chain the wires too :)

Do you have any pictures of your house and the surroundings, everything sounds interesting, and I'd like to see what it all looks like.

post the text please :)
I noticed that too, I guess the designer wasn't a geek.
And don't forget darker clothes hide fat better too, I want a black one with the syrenge too.
