Think of how much easier it would be to kidnap people from airports
What a load of crap. By your own statements most of these "slaves" come here to find arranged jobs. Why have "tags" and risk being caught in a crowded airport with some kind of radio. "Officer that man just waved somekind of radio at me. Stop him I think he is a terrorist!"
All you have to do is just wait till the woman shows up at your doorstep to go to work. DUH! They already have a method of rounding up slaves. Your thinking too much. Try again.
True but to not even try was irresponsible and according to reports an attemp to do so was asked for and then called off. I do not understand the logic of THAT at all. They gave the excuse that "we tried to use those assests before and failed to get good results" Sorry that line is bogus. During the Joh Glenn mission they tried and didn't get good results but during the first mission of Columbia they got good photos and her last mission's orbit was simular to this one if I recall correctly so the same assets could have been used on this mission.
Who killed the attempt at photos and why? That is the question I have been asking for 3 months.
Also the board has now allready recommeded to NASA that ALL shuttles be photographed as SOP from now on. If it so lousy a method why bother to require it?
I really think that Linux users are kidding themselves when they use this argument. The main reason that there are so few Linux viruses out there is that there are so few desktop Linux installations relative to Windows, making it less fun to write Linux viruses, and less likely for them to spread.
Well that is true for the desktop but there are quite a few Linux servers out there. I'd think it would be more fun to disrupt a bunch of servers then a bunch of desktops. (hell many viruses are just DDoS deamons being spread to do just that.) We don't see Linux viruses because it's hard to write them. Most windows viruses exploit the same gapping holes in the system that have never been patched. Microsoft calls them features. Kits to write new viruses based on the same holes exist all over the net. If it was that easy to crack Linux then it would be done.
If they don't count the ballots at the poll in front of voters then the system is wide open for fraud. It doesn't matter what system they use. Here in Texas they lockup the ballot boxes in a car and haul them to the county court house. How do you know that the box is the same box as what left the polling place. How is an electronic system going to prevent a "virtual box swap" of ballot tampering. We allready have ballot tampering. This makes it easier.
Why do people think that a electronic system is some how better then a pencil and paper? It isn't more secure and who cares if it takes all night to count the damn things?
This is why I don't vote anymore. I don't trust the system.
(Psst: there are even hints of future automotive applications.)
That was an interesting one liner in the text of the article. What are they hinting at? Car Diagnostic apps? GPS maps? Life sized RC cars? Driving, reading email, and shaving, while on my cell phone in rush hour?
...software? Or should it be a location for developing software. One can argue if it is stable and no new work is being done on it then it should be hosted elsewhere. Not sure I agree with that point of view but I can see the merit of it.
That is the headline to look for if Google has money problems in the future.
If Google is a threat then Google needs to watch its back. If Microsoft can't build a better product(sic) then they will just buy it. Google had better not have any financial problems or they might just go looking some day for cash and bang, like a loan shark, old Billy will show up with the cash.
Tell the publisher of the software about the problem in priviate and give them 10 days or 30 days to fix the problem. If they don't announce a fix in that time go public. This keeps the script kiddies at bay, allows the publisher to save face and even "be the hero", and takes care of the problem. Not a perfect solution but one that can work can it not?
What clients do you have that require 'the latest and greatest'? Why would Redhat 7 stop working as being a perfectly fine distro?
I assume that a EOL'd product would NOT get the proper security updates and bug patches. Other than that their is no reason to upgrade. That is the only problem I have with this.
Of course as one of the ACs uptopic pointed out that is the big problem with "free" software. If you want long EOLs you don't go(anymore) with RedHat's free distro. You go to the expensive paid versions or some other distro.
RH8 has an EOL of 12/31/03 and this new version will give me an EOL of 03/31/04. I got several clients running RH 7&8 that I was looking at moving off to other distros or I upgrade NOW to RH9 and delay the next "forced" upgrade for 3 months. This is not going to encourage me to stay with RH. We need longer EOL times.
To be honest I'm not sure what is required of a prepaid cell phone. They call them disposable phones so do they require your name in order to sign up. If it keeps you off the lists I'd be going to PrePaid.
Oh please. Get a grip! No one really cares about Iraq. Iraq didn't do anything last time we slapped them around. They fired 100 scuds and only 2 or 3 hit anything? It will last 10 days, most of the Iraq's military will surrender, and Saddam will suddenly show up in UAE unharmed.
What in your opinion is the biggest stumbling block for wide spread acceptance of Linux in desktop uses?
Lack of software, poor GUI design, lack of a single common GUI, hard to buy a computer with out Microsoft software preinstalled, "it is free so it can't be good" misconceptions, or something else?
Question: Windows,Linux, or Mac for "grandma"?

Mac users can answer the same question.
Personally I allways been afraid to do so because of the amount of Windows software on the shelves that they might want to buy.

McAfee lists the patch with a link to:

Not the iframe hole you mention.
And McAfee seems to disagree with you about when this was discovered.
He was remarking about when the security hole in IE, that this virus exploits, was discovered and patched not the date this virus was discovered.
...a floor wax and an ice cream topping!
Not sure but I think this is the link. Does not mention that it is pulled though.
