Wow, Now thats a first, A open source fan, leaving jolly good ol' england, returning to his homeland, the land of the brave and free, and WHAT does he wants to do after returning home ? Of couse try the lastest browser, named after a lizzard from the land of the rising sun.
Hats off to you man.
Is it good. Is it as supported as IE. etc etc.
Since you are just waking up after a hybernation of about 5-6 years. Let me enlighten you.
Yes its freaking good.
And NO it is not supported as IE, infact it is not even as supported as Netscape 4.x. Because Mozilla is ment to be a developer release and not a commercial one.
If you want support try Netscape 7.x and all the AOL crap that comes with it.
First of all, a younger programmer works for a lot less than an older experienced one. He may not put out the best code, but does it really matter to an IT manager ?
These days the buzz word is "COST CUTTING", so if you have a decent enough Sales and marketing dept. which can BS their way to customers and be successful in selling semi functional, bloatware then "WHY BOTHER with experienced programmers ?"
Get some fresh out of college newbie to work for you at a very cheap cost and PROFIT!!!
We olderprogrammers ( I myself am only 27 but i guess that's old in computing age), have to realise that IT products like any other products are not about quality or experience, rather its about sales and marketing BS.
Haven't you learnt anything from terms like "Enterprize", "fault-tolerent","B2B", "Scalability". These are the terms that sell an IT product not the well engeniered code.
Oh My god man, read the freaking post. and avoid questions that can be answered with a few minutes' worth of research.
Now if only you were to visit the said website namesys.com, You would see it in HUMONGOUS font "Raiser4 is due June 30 2003".
When will it be stable enough for early-adoption users?.
What kind of early adaptor are U any way ? asking questions about stability ?
I have set my spam filter to the highest.
Technically I am not even supposed to get mail in my inbox from ppl. who are not in my address book.
Yet I end up with atleast 10-15 junk mails getting through.
Apart from causing fluctuations in IBM shares temporarily, I don't see how this will have any long term impact on IBM.
Surely this has happened before. Many big business use as the article describes "aggressive accounting" for promoting confidence in investors. If you are an investor you better be aware of this.
Unless there are wide gaps in balance sheets of 2000 and 2001, which would mean a enron , worldcom like scenario, there is not much to worry about, i guess
But then I don't own any IBM shares either:-)
Um, Megapixel is just a number game like CPU speeds.
What makes a good camera is the optics and the optical assembly.
For prints even as large as 8x10 a 2 MP image is enough.
What exactly is archo's acchievments in cameras anyway ?
Well I was so looking forward to buying this thing.
When i first read about it in Wired , It said, it would retail about 350-375 $. But 570$ give me a break.
Plus add another 70-80 bucks for firewire cable and 50-70 bucks for the compact flash adapter. Thats too much price to pay.
Besides archos JBM 20 had some serious design flaws like plastic buttons etc. And archos is not exactly known for after sales service.
No actually i am from a land, where programmers don't make stupid mistake of trunketting some one's user name, without giving them a chance to change it.
As an Indian I beg to differ, they don't have an attitude/ego
yeah right, i think we indians have one THE most infalted ego about our computing abilities. they really really really want to program(unlike lazy westerners)
What a gross generalisation. Incase you forgot most of computing initiatives are taken by western countries. They actually meet targets
Not any faster than anyone else The quality is as good as western code
How does this make indians better ? the labour is cheap
no arguments here. But don't forget the labour is cheap because of a weak economy and huge population, which have their own problems. there are 1.3 billion people (making them second to China)
Out of which 30-40 % are under poverty line They use Linux for everything
WHAT ?
Dude,
Linux or no linux, jobs/projects are being out sourced to india because of one simple reason .
CHEAP LABOUR.
If you think outsourcing to india is problem, wait till china catches up. they have even better infrastructure and cheaper labour.right now the only problem for them is ability to speak english.
In case you forgot it's called capitalism.
let me guss , you were not the brightest bulb in the stock were you ?

No ,
Wired has reviewed both the models, the one you are mentioning and the one I mentioned. I was refering to the very 3xx series.
I don't advertise my cell phone no. so i wonder how somebody got hold of it.
usually they ask for some other person, pretending to be a wrong number, but then ask me my name and where I live. Quite Annoying really.
Dude,
This is Barbra Streisand we are talking about, not natalie portman.
Why whould you ever want to do that ?
