You know much about the Renaissance? You think artists back then paid their bills from thin air? If you think any artist's motives back then were any more pure than now I'm sure you'll also be interested in a fine bridge I have the title for. Cheap, I swear!
Uh. I brought my phone from Spain, got a Cingular (now AT&T) contract, put the SIM in it, and off I go. And since they only lock you in when you get a phone, I could cancel the contract tomorrow without penalty.
Yeah, they suck, but not in that particular point;)
"Ubisoft declaring steadfast support for the Wii... but all that's gotten them so far is the hyped up Red Steel which isn't doing so well in reviews, and craptacular shovelware in the form of Far Cry Vengenge and GT Pro."
Yes and no. I'm more excited about Twilight Princess but because they are supposedly fixing Wind Waker's problems: too few dungeons and too much time spent going around the sea fetching stuff (triforce quest anyone?).
I personally loved Wind Waker's graphics. I loved being able to "play the cartoon" (those who say it looks like a Saturday morning cartoon are wrong. It looks like a Saturday morning cartoon, but far better, and you're in control). I don't think I'll have anything against Twilight Princess graphics, but there's space in this world for the childish and whimsical when done right.
Actually that's the way it should be. Allow me to explain the reasoning:
iTunes/iChat: They can keep doing their thing even without any windows around and you will probably use them that way. iTunes will keep playing music, iChat will keep you connected and people might contact you. iDVD/iMovie (I assume that was a typo): They are project based. Close the project, go back to the opening screen. There's not much to do with neither app without a project open. iPhoto: The window manages the library. Nothing to do without it around. Application quits.
In fact Freescale is a major player in the embedded processor and other specialized processor markets, and even in the heyday of its relationship with apple, the percent of business that represented was a drop in the bucket.
If you want to figure that one out, start checking what CPU your router is using, or your car, or a gazillion of those things nowadays that happen to use a CPU even if it doesn't boot in a GUI OS nor is used plugged to keyboard and monitor.
Keep in mind that of all the components of the XBox 360 and the PS3, the only ones that I'm sure are made in the US or Japan are their CPUs. Most everything is built in sweatshopistan, and for sure they are assembled there too. So it's not so clear how the shifting money exchange rates will change console costs.
You'll probably be able to buy a 'best' MacBook with pretty much the specs you'd like for the small MacBook Pro you're talking about. Of course the price will be the expected one for the specs (including Apple tax).
You won't find a more powerful laptop for that price right now. Unless it's a 'laptop' only in name. Considering the weight and dimensions, this thing is a beast.
It's coming in Leopard. There's some support for it in Tiger, but it's kind of a work in progress (mostly stuff for developers and nothing that isn't disabled by default).
It's for all those who think that two more inches will make all the difference.
(being more serious, this is what I want, but I'll wait until the 64-bit version. Certainly my current 15" MacBook Pro can't be beaten for the price, as a work laptop I don't have to pay for:P )
I think they'll also do a lot of tie-ins. I.e. "Buy Zelda Revolution, download SNES A Link to the Past for free". That certainly would endear me to buy more games from them.
If AMD were to stop having serious competition, it would instantly become something not any better than what you consider Intel to be now (or a few years back, when it was far worse than now).
I'll use the chance to plug the game that has been keeping me awake since Xmas: Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! is a great Japanese rythm game that is unfortunately impossible to localize (without redoing half of it). Still you don't need to know a word of Japanese to enjoy it nor to crack yourself up at its hilarious antics. But those are just icing on the cake of an extremely addictive game that puts the hardware to great use.
Actually it can drive your 30", but only up to 1920x1200 ;)
Yeah, things do invert after level 10, with the full-fledged spell casters overshadowing the fighter-types. Badly.

The System Works! Only 30000 pets dead!

No respect for the Rabbids?
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, if the Apple Store guys can't fix it, they'll send it to the repair center themselves, so there you saved some extra hassle ;)
FWIW, the MacBooks do support 802.11a. I think all macintels do in fact (comes with the Intel chipsets)

You forget scantily clad women with swords/guns. Those always make a game really mature.

In Soviet Russia the TV fixes YOU.
Uh, wait...

Keep in mind, however, that in private health care, the definition of 'efficient' for the insurance company and for the customer is vastly different.
And that's why national healthcare is the least bad solution (trust me, I've lived long enough in Europe to know).
Mostly because Intel left them no other choice. And then again, consider the astounding market penetration of Windows-based Itanium servers.
If AMD were to stop having serious competition, it would instantly become something not any better than what you consider Intel to be now (or a few years back, when it was far worse than now).
I'd chalk it to, among other things, the fact that almost all the good games got released a lot later (if they have at all so far).

I have the solution for your case. In your moment of maximum desperation at your loneliness, just shout "OUENDAAAAAAAN"
(kudos to anyone who gets it. Game of the year AFAIC).
