I agree... I was very excited when it was first announced a few years ago. Of course, I knew it was downhill once Activision bought Blizzard.
I was hoping that Diablo 3 would be released before too much of Activision's influence made it into the game. However that did not happen and every few months an article of new "features" appeared such as no Lan games, Internet connections being required for solo play, and the "console-fication" of game play detracted from any excitement I used to have for Diablo 3.
So, when I get bored of playing Diablo 2, I now play Torchlight and eagerly await Torchlight 2. I don't even think about DIablo 3, because I know that when it is released it will be a shadow of what it could have been...
Plus, I feel better supporting small independent game devs instead of gigantic corporate overlords. I also look at Torchlight as the true sequel to Diablo... The developers writing it are the same ones that used to write Diablo back when Blizzard was independent.
With different emails, profiles, behaviors, etc how would they notice?
For one thing, correlations between people tagged in the same photo.
If you use a separate work account, you should only have co-workers in your friends list which would limit the amount of photos your work profile is tagged in. If you are tagged in a non-work related photo, deny that it is you and un-tag it
avoid personal info like birthday's etc on the business account.
As I understand it, all major social networks operating in the United States collect date of birth to be COPPA compliant.
Simple... Lie. Every account I have on the internet that requires a birthday has a fake date. (Except my bank.) Before I deleted my facebook account, it was funny how many of my friends wished me happy birthday when it wasn't even close. (And yes, I am talking real friends that have known me before there was a WWW)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is like selling 5,000 tickets to a show that can only host a thousand people, and blaming the people who complain about not getting what the paid for.
Yes, but you have to add that in the middle of the show they come around and say, "You have watched too much, cough up more money or we are throwing you out of the arena."
Has it not occurred to ANYBODY here that if Google were allowed to know a few things about you (via your G+ profile), that it could provide a much better search experience? Everybody's so determined to stick to their old ways, when this just the natural evolution in making search easier.
Yes, that thought came to mind. However, I believe that my personal information and privacy are more important than some minor convenience.
Lets just give them our politicians. That combined with corporate payoffs^t^t^t^t^t^t^t "Campaign Contributions" is the secret to our current economic condition.
It started with the UI... eliminating status bars and minimizing the ui to an extreme.
Then they changed the numbering on releases.
Now they are copying the game engine. (another feature that chrome already has)
Why innovate for yourselves if you can just copy everything that chrome has done already?!?
Of course copying Chrome is counter-productive... If I want my browser to be like Chrome I am going to use Chrome. Hey mozilla team: If you want people to use your browser you have to innovate on your own and give people reasons why your browser is better. Ask any sled dog, the one that leads has a much better view than the ones that follow the leader.
You(mozilla) started to lead when everyone else thought the browser market was dead. You rapidly gained market share and people started using Firefox. However this year you appear to have no drive, leadership or innovation and people are starting to leave your browser for others. How difficult is it for you to get the clue to start your own ideas instead of copying someone else?
b) don't purchase a system that UEFI implemented that cannot be disabled
Probably the same chance of being able to buy a system today without windows... Which is a slight chance for a desktop and no chance for a laptop.
c) urge your Linux-vendor (e.g. RH) to get on the UEFI bandwagon if you're so inclined
And having these linux vendor keys pre-installed on a system has the same chance of getting a system with linux pre-installed. (i.e. you're screwed) I can tell you right now that 3rd party keys will never be user installable. If they ever are this would be an attack vector. What use are secure keys if anyone can change them?
They are creating buzz about their game. Its free marketing, and marketing is one of the areas that indies do not have a lot of money to fund.
I am positive that many people will download it for free and never even consider paying for it. However, I am just as sure that another large group of people will download it, try it, like it, and go and buy the version without pirate hats. (I am assuming that they have something in game or in the downloaded files that tells the end-user how to get a legit copy.)
I even expect that there will even be a small amount of people that will give money to the developer just for offering their game like this. Reasons for this will be because they legitimize p2p, to encourage more devs to go this route, or even just to give a big FU to companies like EA, Activision, and Ubisoft that think that DRM is the only way to succeed.
In the end, I would wager that they will make more money on this game by letting people download it for free than if they tried to actual remove their game from filesharing sites. (not that it is ever possible to completely remove a file from the internet.)
In addition, They will need to hold companies accountable when their offshore data center gets breached.
Without this I see all the giant US companies saying that they are not responsible because the outsourcing firm did not store your data properly. And sorry, but the outsourcing firm is not a US entity and not subject to US law.
There was broad dissatisfaction with the Nexus One, and that was just one handset.
Really?!? The only dissatisfaction with the Nexus One was distribution. Google tried to sell it outside the influence of the carriers and the carriers played hardball.
I have a Nexus One and I love it... I have no reason to change it (except for the upcoming merger of AT&T/T-Mobile which will force me on to a different network.)
I never rooted it, even though it is easy to do, because nothing is locked out. I can use it as a portable wifi hotspot or tether it to another device with a usb cable.
It still has plenty of power, I have not had any problem with performance, even with games. And this is a phone that was released 18 months ago...
It still gets regular software updates. Right now I am running Android version 2.3.4. (and I just read an article yesterday mentioning that 75% of android phones are only running version 2.2.)
Even though it has been discontinued a long time, there is still a demand for the phone. It still sells for $270-$300.
That does not sound like broad dissatisfaction to me...
In addition, the article also mentioned that the state does not require you to pay taxes until you win $600 or more through gambling.
If your ticket wins for less than $600 you are not required to report pay taxes on it right away. You are required to pay taxes if you hit multiple times giving an overall profit of $600 (after deducting the value of losing tickets.) However, I am pretty sure that people notify the IRS about this as often as they pay the sales taxes on items shipped from out of state. (which is also required in all states with a sales tax)
I don't keep that kind of data on my Android phone to start with.
This is a great idea, except that Android devices can pretty much access all data you leave in Google's cloud. It does not need to be on your device. This includes, Gmail, Google+, Google Docs, Picasa, Google Finance, Google Wallet, Android Market, Google Maps, and more. Android can even log you in to any website that uses google as a sign in... (I know a few things on appspot.com utilize google in this way.)
Now, you can say you can avoid using google services and accessing them from your phone, but then why did you buy a smartphone in the first place?
I noticed after a ASUS upgrade package for my transformer left me with a "Google Video" app. It can't be uninstalled, it won't play local media files, but it will let me spend money renting...
The prior upgrade left me with a useless ebook reader that I was not allowed to uninstall (google books). As time goes on, the more frustrated I will get. When it peaks, I will root my devices and uninstall all the garbage.
Hey google!!! I own the device not you... What part of "do no evil" allows you to put your crap I do not want on it??? If it is a choice and I find it useful, I'll install it and praise you. If I do not have a choice of (un)installing, I will never use it and curse you regardless of its usefulness.
If this is a simple cost issue due to unemployment consider the following: Which is cheaper... Paying your ISP, or putting gas in your car to drive to a hotspot? If you are unemployed, your best chances to get a job require an internet connection.
If you are doing it because of time management, get yourself a cheap router and install DD-WRT. Use the firewall to limit the time you have access to the internet, and forbid the worst sites. You can even set it up to allow things like email while blocking all http traffic, or even just block your computer allowing your kids/spouse/gf access to the net.
I completely agree with you. But you forgot to mention how since the economic downturn started, teaching jobs have been targeted. Many teachers have been laid off as part of budget cuts. This is just extending the downward spiral.
I believe that our leaders like the idea of keeping the masses stupid, because that allows the two-party system to continue.
At the same time, the wealthy can afford to send their children to private school with smaller class sizes and better paid teachers allowing their children to get a better education and better job later on leaving in place a "privileged class" separate from the masses.

Vaseline might be even more helpful...
However, any type of lubrication which may ease the pain inflicted by AT&T violates the terms of service agreed to when signing up.
How long before we take this unit and have it turn on a mp3 player of a large dog barking viciously...
With different emails, profiles, behaviors, etc how would they notice?

You're overstating the problem. For 100 gold I can hire a fighter and a cleric. Problem solved.
A muscle bound men at arms is cheap... However, the last I checked, the price of a decent healer is a lot of money and keeps on going up every year.
Lets just give them our politicians. That combined with corporate payoffs^t^t^t^t^t^t^t "Campaign Contributions" is the secret to our current economic condition.

The options are:
a) disable UEFI in BIOS
Provided that this will be an option.
b) don't purchase a system that UEFI implemented that cannot be disabled

Don't use facebook
That is only half the battle...
Even deleting and/or blocking cookies does not work. A few months ago, it was reported that facebook tracks you based on ip address.
Anytime you request an image from facebook, you are being tracked, including "like" buttons.
I use DD-WRT and its access restrictions to block facebook.com at my router. Don't forget to block fcbkcdn.net as well.
If you can not block access from your router, you can add facebook.com to your hosts files to redirect facebook to ip 127.0.0.1.

FTA: "The ISPs were given two weeks to respond and are entitled to be reimbursed for their expenses."
Once ISP expenses cost more than the expected settlement amount, this nonsense will stop in Canada.
In addition, They will need to hold companies accountable when their offshore data center gets breached.
Without this I see all the giant US companies saying that they are not responsible because the outsourcing firm did not store your data properly. And sorry, but the outsourcing firm is not a US entity and not subject to US law.
And when the government is said mishandler... does this mean tax refunds?
Yes, but the money will be sent to the person that just stole your social security number.

Actually, there is one new surprise....
The actual document leak was a surprise. Everything else is something we all expected.
Thanks to GPS, I truly don't need to ask directions...

You can teach the poor downtrodden deposed ex-kings how to get through spam filters.
Don't forget to protect the system with by installing a good anti-virus.
