Can't help but wonder if that's "200,000 years under ideal, laboratory conditions" and this is projected (unless they've been working on it for a really long time.
MS are working very hard to make PCs secure enough to vote from.;-)
I'm a bit of a maths dunce but

{first 10-digit prime found in consecutive digits of e}.com
In case you're wondering -- or forgot -- e is the base of the natural system of logarithms, having a numerical value of about 2.71828 (though the number goes on forever).
Get file with copy of prime numbers. Get file with copy of largest precision of e. Use perl to scan for all 10 digit primes and then look for the first one in e.
The phone is still in use. Also, I can't help but think that movies and TV programmes with the old style phones will keep it 'alive' in peoples memories for a good bit longer.
SCO have discovered about 5 or 6 "smoking guns" and they never turn out to be anything. Still, it hasn't been groklaw'd yet so we can't be sure what's going on.;-)
Obviously I haven't RTFA (this being/.) but I'm guessing they're not aiming at the Oracle/DB2 market. Plenty of times when you don't need anything that beefy.
It might not pass but presumably his RIAA/MPAA friends have asked him to do this for a reason? It might not be the story it first appears but that doesn't mean we should ignore it.
I'm sure there will be an iron clad EULA that means you can't do a damn thing about sueing them and even saying you were hacked will be a DMCA violation
well, in case you're not joking...
How the hell would you gather it up and then, having gathered it, how would you bind it together so you could attach the tether to it?
You know, having typed that reply, I really, really hope you're waiting to be modded funny...
I believe the point is to make access to space economically practical. Burning massive amount of fuel is pricey and pretty bad for the environment. If we really want to be doing stuff in space we either use space elevators or wait for someone to invent anti-matter drives or something.

I was veryglad to see a new Thunderbird version. Roll on TB1.0!
Aha! So you do have something to hide!

geek gets into a night club with real live women and what does he do? He programs perl. jeez
Or he was thinking, "if I back off now I lose face." Might not have been but I've seen cops (and other folk 'in authority' react that way before.
Wonder Woman jet AND costume? Please tell me you're a female geek on slashdot?
I'm sure SCO will say that they have some smoking gun patent in there registered by Darl's great great great grandfather
just when it looks like my case was going down the pan Well, SCO didn't really have to wait long
Never understood the appeal. Mod him down and move on folks...

They're building landing strips for gay Martians, I swear to God Is that a Dead Milkmen sig I spy?
apparently, it's to do with the amount of money you get
I don't believe SCO has any UNIX 'IP' to be released anyway.

Or were you worried about your rights?
I use them for moving between pages of on-line cartoons... erm... as well as...you know...
"Doesn't the government have better things to do?"
Are you suggesting that education, health, freedom and peace are more important than keeping Janet Jackson's breast out of sight? You damn liberal!... "consensus seems to be that IBM would lose any court action it tried to bring."
If SCO won anything against IBM in court they'd spin it into a "Victory against the Linux terrorists"
