No point in complaining. Let the folk rich enough (stupid enough?) to afford it, buy it. Either it just won't take off (in which case you've saved yourself a load of cash) or it'll go great, the price will drop, the bugs will be ironed out and you'll get it at a price you can afford. What is there to complain about?

Is it pathetic that I only knew that cause it's mentioned in The Simpsons? I think it's the one where Kent Brockman wins big. Homer chucks it on the fire when the news (Kent) mentions the book has nothing to do with the lotto.

I'm with you on this. I don't have any copies of CDs and I'm boycotting anything with DRM on it but I'm wondering if there's an easy way to check (without trying to copy the CD) whether or not it's DRM'd? If I don't see the CD Audio logo on the disc then I'm suspicious but I'm not sure I can count on that. Anyone know of an easy way to know for sure?

The sceptic in me thinks that any kind of profile matching by something as vague as postal code, even if everyone was honest, is very very difficult, if not impossible Very difficult to do accurately. Probably a lot easier for an agency that doesn't care too much if they link you with a child molester or a terrorist.

Maybe it's just the tinfoil beanie talking but I had the idea of them using post codes (zip codes) and other details to link up different profiles (or selling them on to other companies that will. If I care enough (and I trust them) they usually get my real(ish) details. If not, I make it up. (I have one hotmail account I use for registration. I just log in every few days and empty the whole lot.)

Slow down there friend. There's actually quite a lot of doubt (seeGroklaw) about whether or not SCO even has any rights over the Unix code. I believe that's the basis of their current legal tussle with Novell.

We have that at out place. Development is different from User Testing and both of them are different from Production. Bosses don't see that it's a problem worth doing anything about.

  15. Quite important though on Dealing with the Unix Copy and Paste Paradigm? · · Score: 1

...before you can tryly say that Linux is ready for prime time
I think this is quite an important point in encouraging people to move across from Windows. I've been slowly teaching my friends (who recently got their first computer, with XP Home) to use copy 'n' paste more and they love the feeling of power it gives them. (Hey, it is their first computer!). If they were moving to linux and discovered one of the few 'power user' things they could do suddenly didn't work it could be enough to put them off for a long time. Yes, I could try to 'educate them' but that's not going to do any good at that point. Not saying that different isn't good but it's something to think about.

I still believe that you have to specicially shoot a film for 3D. I'm not just talking about the technical aspect of capturing that additional information. Directors and cinematographers put a lot of effort into composing the 'flat' images we see on screen. I think if you want similar quality in 3D you're talking about a lot more effort - it's not just flick a switch and get the same thing but in 3D
