    Given the percentage of mentally ill homeless, does anyone think this will do anything but drive them from help?

    I don't miss much about Christianity, but the "no questions asked" help for the destitute is sorely lacking today.

    That's ignorant. Have you noticed MS often slips license changes in with the patches?

    Read the EULA's from the orignal software and from the service packs sometime.

    Screw that. We purposefully avoided SP2 because of mandatory choices it made for you.

    Now, we had to scramble around and install it (it's needed for the hotfix) because this stupid ass "good" worm killed our systems when the blaster missed us completely.

    If I ever get to meet my "benefactor", I'll give him a windows update with my good right fist!

    The poster should have used "asserts". "Declares" implies an authoritative judgement. "Asserts" indicates an argumentative stance.

    In my experience the USA has the same problem at times.

    As does France. As does Britain. As does Italy. As does Germany. As does Canada. Oh, well, maybe not Canada, but you get the picture.

    Like hell. The winter is a great time to visit here. The cold thins out the dilettante tourists and the city knows how to handle cold and muck.

    You have never gone on a great pub crawl until you've done one in Chicago in January. We know how to drink our way through the winter.

    And if you're going to visit the U of Chicago (most Nobel prize winners anywhere), and stare at the sculpture marking the spot where the first sustained manmade chain fission reaction took place, you shoudl see it in it's cold and gray glory.

    Don't be surprised if management at all levels except the very top starts getting outsourced.

    And then, ultimately there'll be some hot company that consists of a chairman who owns 51% of the stock living in the U.S. and all the other parts of the company and managers who will be in India or China.

    Then that Chairman will sell 2% of his/her stock for some reason and get outsourced himself.

    I don't see it. How could SCO's suit kill Open Source as a whole?

    The offending code (if there is any) will have to be identified, even if in a broad manner. The community replaces the code with new code - voila - legality is restored.

    What outcome are you envisioning that could have a nuclear effect?

    3) SCO wins and RedHat can't afford the licensing fee. RedHat goes out of business and I'm left with an orphaned product.

    But that's the beauty of Open Source. You can't be truly orphaned.

    Letterman used to give the NBC sensors fits.

    I mean, he'd carry in nuclear, bilogical, and chemical weapons in to the studio in his pants every day. When the pants came off, the sensors went wild.

    Now, of course he causes problems with the CBS sensors. His Cardiac Bypass Shunt cause all kinds of problems.
