Also, is the Internet ready for this kind of traffic?
What do you mean is it ready? I'd say it is, by a longshot. It's simple really. When you've got joe sixpack downloading a 800Mb movie 2 to ad infinitum times over a week trying to get the copy that actually *is* the movie advertised, lets say this could only improve the state of things on the net.
Has it ever occured that due to information overload on the Internet that people now speed read just about everything they see? I do, and had to re-read your comment again just to to see the second 'to'.;)
Close, but does anyone not realize the iron clad contracts M$ makes companies sign when your volume licensing Windows/Servers etc? I've never seen them - but that has got to be one of the reasons.
Getting the Not Found Error when I try to hit the link now. Next time try posting the entire resume, some people just don't want their server up in smoke;)
Anyone stopped to think that maybe the cronies at m$ might be watching those eBay auctions and purposely inflating the price to astronimical levels for 2 reasons:
1. Hey it gets a front page on Slashdot, therefore, this game ROCKS!
2. The buyer most likely won't pay up and its just wasted time, because by the time the auction ends, the games going to be out there in full force anyways...

Obviously, SCO feels that they aren't going to be around after this date... or one would think they would at least have bothered to splash out the extra cash for a 2-year reg rather than just a 1-year reg.
...everyone assume that the Interweb is intended for information? Yes, I understand it is the best source of collaborative information the world over, but I like finding porn the old fashioned way - not having a search engine, or intelligent nodes, telling me which hottie is the hottest.
It appears that Google has started the email equivalent of a penis contest.
Bikers and Penis's --- they go well together now don't they? I remember a song saying something about "having big balls", and I remember people with mostly long hair listening to it also...
36 million subscribers * 100Gb = ????

In order to attract interest, the company launched a 3-Gigabyte free email service a little over a month ago and since then has signed up more than 36 million users...
Another alternative is, of course, to post it on Slashdot. But the question that lingers, is how in the hell did a little unknown magazine end up signing up 36 million people?
Now I'm not a biker myself, but you'd think with that many e-mail addresses from this company I'd of seen it once or twice working in tech support...
This Mouse is differentiated by its sixth button, the Office Hot Key which activates 17 different office applications.
17 Different Office Applications? kaBOOOOOOOOOM...

IE is such a de facto standard

So how long before we read about any of the above? Taking your bets right now....
Sorry to pick nits, but shouldn't it be COL?
Contrary to popular belief, not all Canadians use AOL.
I look forward to the day that people don't list experience with "Linux, Windows, OS-X" on their resumes and instead just say "can use computer".
;)
I look forward to the day when they say "Can troubleshoot, rebuild, format, virusscan, configure, and use computer."
..snipped stupid luser crap out
Can anyone help me?
No. Well yes, but no. Where in "Slashdot" does it say "Free technical support"?
...I always hoped AOL would evolve
Huh? Into WHAT?
Empty vehicles wait for you - not the other way around.
In Soviet Russia you wait for empty vehicles!
Ahh damn, it sounded funnier in my head.

It's fishing...
Do you have r00t? No? Go Phish!
When will slashdot have standard compliant XHTML/CSS code?
;)
When CmdrTaco stops searching for previous stories he's already posted.
Well, if you think you are, then why not see if your prone to phishing scams, or if it's a legitimate e-mail offer! Take the Mail Phishing Test
;)
Enjoy!

You mean the extra $5.00?

Where does advertising go from here?
Popups, spam and spyware. Oh wait. That's already been thought of...
I am the customer.
;)
I am the most important...
That is, until you called tech support...
