Nitpicky, I know, but it's not an additional parity drive, it's an additional parity calculation that's distributed among the disks evenly, just as in RAID 5. It's sometimes called two dimensional parity.
I've gotta respond to this, since I'm really sick of people calling Half Life 2 derivative.
Half Life redefined first person shooters back in 1998. It and some choice others, like Deus Ex, chose to make the genre more than just lugging around strange weaponry and blowing away aliens. They gave story, scope, style, amazing graphics, and a sense of actually being in the game.
Half Life presented itself as a constant flow of gameplay, giving you story and immersion. Now, because of that, you end up actually liking and caring about Gordon, the character you control. People may not want to admit it, but if Valve wants to make another game that uses those exact elements to play off of, they're perfectly free to do so. It was their idea in the first place. Who are we to say that they shouldn't continue refining it?
Half Life 2 is the continuation of a great concept in gaming. I'm tired of people discounting it just because it isn't "wholly original."
In the game, there are unique monsters that drop rare and expensive items, called Notrious Monsters (NM's). In FFXI, only the party that initiated the attack against the monster can engage it in combat, so there will literally be 50 people surrounding the area where it appears, and as soon as it does it becomes a race to see who can claim it first.
The problem then becomes that the drop goes from being kind of rare to EXTREMELY RARE, and the price goes through the roof.
Honestly though, unless the items are being used to sell Gil (in game money) I can't say I frown on it. If people are that organized and they want to affect the economy to make a better position for themselves in the game, I say go for it. As a player, I know that there are plenty of ways to sidestep the problem, and it only becomes important to people who are transfixed by the items that they cant get.
You totally missed the point.

It's a big game. Do something else!
So...standards compliance?
A lot of companies, and fans and the press know, Blizzard doesn't release products until Blizzard believes they're done.
And hey, if it turns out to be crap, we just unrelease it, right?
Like usual it was spread by e-mails with claims to have attachments that contain passwords for adult websites.
And, like usual, it hasn't affected most of us because even the Windows users among us understand basic tenets of email security.
