    that's absolute bullshit, my current new windows install has about 4 missing drivers till i bother tracking down my motherboard disc, EVERY SINGLE REQUIRED DRIVER downloaded from the ubuntu repo for my dual boot linux partition and on all 3 linux installs in my house. the only thing that is stopping me from running ubuntu only with no issues is native versions of blizzard and valve games.

    actually i'm getting to like the DCMA, it's a lot more of a double edged sword than the people who were lobbying for it thought. sure, you get a take down notice and you're boned if you're not rich and right and don't take it down immediately, however if you do take it down immediately 50 other people immediately put it back up and they have to go through the whole process again. gives the lawyers something to do too.

    Furthermore, for all its failures, the academic environment does TEACH the students the skills they will need to acquire to be able to interpret primary data on their own, which is a far more important role, compared to teaching the students facts.

    cool, so we put up with multiple years of wank to learn something that could be taught in a couple of weeks, sounds like an awesome idea.

    heh, i remember those days, i used to use both browsers, when one crashed i switched to the other. I got about equal usage. sure it may have had better support for html 4 etc but back then that was basically irrelevant, what you really wanted was a browser you could use for more than 20 minutes.

    ignoring possible the possible patent issues, as long as you stay away from windows forms there's nothing really tying you to windows if you use C#.

    oh i know it is good, but nowhere near required, more than 95% of your shots will be in front of you. In quake there is more quick turn shoot from the hip stuff but it's still a lot lower than the forward facing shots.

    i'm pretty sure robotron would be about 50 times easier if you moved with the keyboard and shot with the mouse... sure i'd rather play with dual joysticks but that doesn't mean they're better.

    that's pretty much flat out wrong, mice are more precise, period. if you cap the max turn speed it will do almost nothing to the most powerful part of it, which is the ability to move the sight 5 millimetres to the left and cap someone in the face. gross mouse controls are irrelevant, how often do you need to instantly shoot directly behind you? besides, you could essentially make a joystick turn as fast as you want, it would just exacerbate the issues with them.
