Mostly because Sony is the big competition for the X-Box, so a lot of anti-microsoft people like to rally behind them (me included).
Also, Sony is quite broken up compared to most companies. They have their movie division, their music division, their computer division, their video games division, etc. So though I really hate Sony's music and movie division, I still like their video game division.
While I don't agree with government censorship for the most part, somehow the politics of their desicion slightly make me support the idea. I mean, it is not like the forbidding the sell of these games to assumingly mature adults, and recently I saw a C&C ad that basically said that war was the only option to peace (which kinda pissed me off). Well, I guess this really shows that though I value objectivity, I am really just a biased subjective bastard/hypocrit. Yeah, I suck.
I have always considered that episode to be the best episode ever, since fourth grade even...
Dental plan! Lisa need's braces! Dental plan! Lisa need's braces!
My Uncle lives in China, and this has been like this for a while. DVD's of movies always come out way before the release date of the movie. I think this just got more attention because of the extreme popularity of the movie.
This sound's great and all, and I am all for it, but it seems that one would need some pretty intellegent/knowledgable/creative IT's to get this running. For instance, using a thin client for the tablet PC. I could be wrong here, I hope I am.
They also think that there may be life in the atmosphere of Venus, as gases were discovered there that can only be produced by life (oxygen for instance).
So, how is it you get into this conference? Is it open to the general public, do you need to get tickets or a reservation, or do you need to present something?
Virginia is way too Republican to take any action against Microsoft. Hell, even Senator Tom Davis of Virginia wanted to stop government GPL research. Though we do have a Democratic governer (FINALLY), he is too business oriented to encourage any action from our state legislators or from our Attorney General (who is a Republican).
I have slowly noticed over the years that pretty much all Bond films are pretty bad. I want to believe that they are good, but after watching some of the older ones and seeing the past two, really it isn't that great of a series. The first ones may have been good for there time, but you look back on them now and they are fairly lame. The only Bond film that I liked was Golden Eye, maybe that is just because of the game though.
Overall, this card is definately in the cards for me:) Maybe along with a dual Opteron machine. And before you scream excess, have you checked Pricewatch lateley? I remember paying $3300 for a single processor PII-300 with 64MB of RAM and a Riva 128 in January of 1998. If the Opterons don't cost that much more than the high-end Athlons today, I could put together this machine for significantly less than that!
Well, I do understand what Mac OS X is compared to Darwin, but even that diagram and your description makes Darwin just seem like a kernel. You BASH and X ontop of Darwin, much the same way you run BASH and X ontop of Linux (hence GNU's bitching... much deserved, but bitching none the less, about GNU/Linux).
Actually, Alpha is not dead, well... mostly. It isn't very popular, but at the moment an Alpha processor is the fastest processor available according the the SPECfcp2000 Benchmarks.
You do make a good point about the PowerPC 970. That thing is going to kick ass, though the AMD x86-64 will be a little better than the PowerPC 970... at least according to IBM on that earlier slashdot article. Still, the PowerPC will make the XServe more attractive then it currently is, though I am interested how much it will cost when it comes out. I find how much the current XServe really the major down point, besides the G4, as I could make a comparable server for much less. I agree with you that IBM is much more reliable than IBM. I can never say anything bad against IBM.:-)
Yeah, really, it is just the hardware I don't like about the XServe. Even though I used to hate Macs, I love OS X, but I really don't think it is a great idea for servers. Well, only time will tell.
Coke, because they have worse slave labor conditions then Pepsi.

Also, offering linux for PS2 can't hurt.
Screw helping out the company, I want free stuff!
Sorry for mispellings and such, that is what you get for reading slashdot stories at 4 AM when you should be writing a paper due the next day.

Is this like IBM Pixie Dust? Mmmm... soy based...
Well, this thing got the ultimate advertisement, a posting on slashdot. Hell, it looks good enough, I might give it a shot.

Yeah, but in my experience, most IT people aren't that intellegent or creative, especially when it comes to the government.
Hehe, yeah, but the fact is most IT people don't really know what they are doing. At least in my experience.

Come on, this has been discussed for a long time.

I wonder how considerably the nerd vote is anyways ;-)
but yeah, i agree completely.
hehe, nerd vote.
I see, that makes sense. Thanks a lot for clearing this up for me.

Oh yeah, it is quite ironic that their album was released 25 years ago. Who'd thought that time would pass? I really didn't see that coming.
I thought Darwin was the kernel. So, what distinguishes Darwin from Mac OS X?
