NRK, the Norwegian government-run TV already offer high-quality streams of every single show they produce, including newscasts, for free. It's an excellent service; if I miss a show, I'll just watch it online. How the BBC claims that this is revolutionary I cannot understand. http://www.nrk.no/
Gee. My WD Caviar 80 GB bought in 2001 is still working well. Also, my 120 GB (from 2002) "Death Star" is working excellently as well. Then again, my ASUS motherboard (which got great reviews with the most noted negative points being the price and, well, the location of the floppy connector) is acting up and needs to be replaced.
We have 24% VAT, and thus generally higher prices than anywhere in Europe. Currently we are not in the EU, so we have to pay toll taxes on anything we order over 1000 NOK, which is about 125 euros... can get expensive. If we enter the EU, people will start ordering from abroad above that limit.
For what it's worth, the UK store should work. I live in Norway, and order from there. Not an EU country, of course. I have no idea who'd buy from Norwegian online stores and pay the 24% VAT if we entered the EU...
I just got a new pair of headphones (Sennheiser HD 555) and am considering lossless audio codecs... And a new sound card... But yeah, with cheap equipment it goes without saying that you won't notice the difference between an MP3 and a CD. Some of us do appreciate the extra quality, though, without being "audiophiles" or anything.
Resolution. Editing two huge pics at once in Photoshop. Most new DSLRS put out pics in 8 MP resolution, and one of these could only show you 4 of those, and in the wrong aspect at that (DSLR usually shoots at 3:2, not 4:3). Not that I'd buy one; I savor the day I'm going up from 1280x960 on a 17" CRT... Shit, the other day I bought a cheap lens for my camera that cost more than this crappy monitor.
Prices for a music album and a game are not that different in Japan, actually. Games tend to be a tad higher, with big-name games often starting at about 7000 yen when they're first released, and albums at 3000-4000 yen for the crap everyone wants. Other games are often 4000-5000 yen.
Well, something I learned in school (I'm Norwegian) is that if global warming occurs and the polar ice caps melt, this will cause current changes that will make the Gulf stream change its course away from us, thus actually making it colder for us.
Yeah, this is because when you open an app in OS X, its dock icon actually becomes a part of the open application's writable screen space. So they can do anything in that area that they can do in an application window. Which I think is nice.
Humm, my bookmark and log menus in Safari show icons next to site names, actually. But to be fair, these are to show items, like the start menu in Windows, not functions, like Office for Windows (XP and 2003).
When I was using Azureus on my now somewhat aging iBook, I was not getting good performance, with CPU usage pretty steady at 30% or so. Tomato Torrent gives me better performance, so I mainly use it instead. Just a point.
Nah, dude. My mom is like over 50, didn't grow up on a typewriter, started with computers in the '80s and can now type way quickly; far quicker than I, who have been typing since I was born.
Which games do you want for the DS? Super Mario is okay, but I'm just lost as to what to buy next. My host father (I'm an exchange student in Japan) gave me a 5000 yen note and send me into Toys 'R' Us to get a game, but nothing really seemed interesting. Maybe that Kimi no tame ni wa shineru game (something like XX XY Feel the Action in the English version, IIRC) is fun. Reading this article kinda made me interested in the PSP, but, meh, I don't have anther 20,000 yen to spend; I'm poor. (-_-)
I've pretty much been playing the GBA cartridge with Final Fantasy I+II on my DS, actually. Meh.
Oh, I'll mention I've never seen anyone with a PSP, though I've seen DS's often. Maybe the PSP selling well is just a Tokyo thing...
But 4 MB is enough for homebrew applications. A small web browser should fit; Win32 Opera would fit, for instance. A small chat client for AIM, MSN, ICQ etc. would be cool, so you could lounge around wherever (assuming you have an access point close enough; might not work in all circumstances) and chat.
Dude, are you putting Lenin and Stalin together in that list? I know it's hard to keep up in class with all these stupid Russian names that all sound alike with their l's and i's, but really, learn the difference. Otherwise I agree with your point, actually.
Yeah, I thought this was kinda strange, because hardly anyone in Japan uses debit/credit cards for payments anyway. It's pretty much impossible most places as well, though there's a commercial running on TV now saying you can use Visa at hospitals. Byouin de mo, uisa wo tukaemasu!

I got mine in 2001, actually, so I doubt it's the same. A7V266-E, anyway.
Oh. I can.

Or any USB mouse for that sake... Never found a USB mouse that didn't work on my iBook, even cheap no-name mice.
... I was going to mod you down, but didn't see an option for "didn't read the parent post". The 20% was for gasoline.

Well, the laws that legalize it are for the best of the animals, but the hunters do it for fun. That's more like it, I think.

iPods charge over USB2 now.

"Nexialism", huh. That has ties with Scientology, apparently.
And USB 1.0 is "good enough" for 1 MP images anyway... Why do you need to transfer 100 pictures a second (600 kB, 60 MB/s) anyway?
