    When Brendan Eich was ousted from Mozilla, it was for his private backing of California Proposition 8, which won the backing of over 52% of California voters. By the hateful logic of Mr. Eich's detractors, the entire State of California should've been boycotted by the freedom-loving web-sites until the State purged their thought-criminals.

    Yeah, but that would come with an actual *cost*. In the same way, they should quit using Eich's work, particularly the javascript language.

    Remember, SJWs will do everything as long as it doesn't inconvenience them personally in any way.

    He's a real estate mogul. Nearly all of his brands are pretty much failures outside of real estate.

    You're kidding, right? The guy probably made more money on the TV show where he put "you're fired" into the American lexicon than he has in real estate. Why was he, of all people, the star of that show? Branding and marketing. It obviously wasn't his business acumen.

    It's actually quite obvious that the evil, lying manpig has a higher IQ than than the Angry Mullet... not that this necessarily matters (policy is clearly decided a lot higher up than in the White House) but I'll take whatever protections I can get. ;)

    I have no reason to believe that Hillary is smarter than Donald Trump (and I'm high IQ). Trump seems to be playing a character that appeals to a certain "base". Hillary doesn't really appeal to any base - the Democrats like her because she's bought and predictable. Sanders appeals to a base of mainly people who are terrible with math and understanding human nature.

    Trump is a master at marketing and branding - look at his TV show. He's a chameleon who can be who he needs to be to win.

    I'm not supporting the guy and have no plans of voting for any of them - they're all terrible people in their own unique ways. I just get tired of the standard Democrat lie that "Republicans are stupid and evil". It's not that I disagree with it, the lie is one of omission.

    The latter, is of course, a mailing list. A mailing list that we don't know whether the subscriber even actively read. In short, the "story" here is that MoveOn was staging anti-Trump protests. OMG, you don't say? I never knew that ;)

    O'Keefe is irrelevant. Either they said what they said or they didn't, and they did. Quit trying to detract attention from the story. These people aren't doing anti-Trump protests - they're inciting and participating in violent acts and trying to make it look like Sanders and Trump supporters are doing it. It's odd the moveon.org would be spending money like this - I thought they were against using money in the political process?

    Where does it say Trump is a racist or anti-Semite? You are spouting a non-sequitur. It does call the alt-right racist and anti-Semitic, which is of course true, but not Trump.

    I'm surprised John Podesta hasn't been given a security audit by the campaign. Audit as in, replaced phone/email/computers with securely vetted stuff + had a security contractor audit and harden his accounts with better passwords/2factor/cleaning out cross referenced credentials.

    These are people who can't be bothered with security when they're the Secretary of State for the USA - how much less do you think they'd care about the data for a political campaign?

    How can we HAVE hard evidence when it requires no ID to vote? You are aware that basically most of Europe requires ID to vote, right? Are they doing voter suppression?

    Canada also has it. The *only* reason anyone would be opposed to requiring a valid ID to vote is that they know that people who can't legally vote are voting for their preferred candidate. I guarantee that if Latinos suddenly started voting for GOP candidates in droves this would suddenly become a bipartisan issue.

    Okay, what does count as an attack in your mind? Is it OK with you if Russians hack into every financial institution you do business with and release the information? Your name, Social Security number, bank account identifiers, credit card numbers (including the security code on the back), just because they didn't have a Spetnatz (is that still the name?) detachment shoot you?

    That's information that could be used for identify theft, it's a different story.

    You know, I find it interesting how your side (weird, wait, I was able to guess which party you devotedly vote for in every election - how did I do that?) thinks that the release of some emails - nothing but emails - is the equivalent of committing acts of war. It's almost as if you're attempting to draw attention away from the content of the emails.

    Nah, couldn't be.

    Does "vote by mail" require any sort of ID? If not, how on earth is this more secure than a ballot box?

    In pretty much any kind of fraud, people are far less willing to show their face to any sort of authority. Fraud online or by mail is just much easier to work up the courage for.

    What's going to stop $PARTY_YOU_HATE from mailing in thousands of ballots for people that didn't vote (the recently dead/felons, people they know directly that didn't vote, etc). When all you need is a name to forge a ballot, no risk to the fraudster, vote fraud will be epic.

    Oddly, the party known for vote fraud seems to do quite well in Oregon.

    The DNC supposedly got hacked, not the US government. The US government has absolutely no reason to offer *any* response.

    If a Russian missile shoots down a Delta flight, I expect the US government to react. If a Russian torpedo sinks a US oil tanker, I expect the US government to react. What kind of strange world do you live in where state level actors only respond to threats by other state level actors if the threats are leveled against the state.

    In your mind, could the Russian army invade the US without the US government reacting unless they crossed into federal land?

    Because no harm was done to *anybody* except DWS. And she needed to go, anyway, given her level of incompetence.

    Are you seriously comparing an airplane being shot down or an oil tanker being sunk to some internal emails from a political organization being leaked to the press?

    The DNC supposedly got hacked, not the US government. The US government has absolutely no reason to offer *any* response. The DNC might get angry about it (and maybe they can use that to continue to try to change the story away from their internal corruption) but they're not the US government.

    His current attitude toward women is quite poor, and this tape just demonstrates that he thinks his money makes sexual assault okay. Even his supporters, I think it was Giuliani on the radio this morning, didn't try to defend what he said. Instead the angle was that he has changed, gone from billionaire playboy to presidential candidate and he wouldn't do that stuff now, even though he describes his own daughter as a "piece of ass".

    Okay. So, at worst, he's still better than Bill Clinton against whom there is a credible claim of rape. Hillary and her supporters don't seem to have a problem with that, so why would they care about Donald Trump's lifestyle?

    I mean, by that logic, Slashdotters should be moderating Slashdot.

    Seriously though, regulators, like bosses, need to have experience in their industries. Every week we boo and hiss at clueless legislators coming in and trying to regulate the Internet or ban encryption or somesuch. The challenge is finding 'insiders' who can still see things in a broader perspective and aren't in the pocket of the people they're supposed to be regulating (a.k.a. regulatory capture). They're tough to find, but if you look hard enough you can find good people like Tom Wheeler.

    I've read through some of the emails and so far I haven't found anything damning, just politically inconvenient truths. It's sad we've become so accustomed to pandering and sugar-coated soundbytes that when politicians actually speak honestly it leaves us sour.

    The problem is that the Democrats keep yelling about Republicans being the party of big business and all that, so this is supposedly a really big deal to them. Also, remember how they want to get corporate donations out of politics? I'm sure Lessig is just *furious* over this new information about the candidate that he'll vote for no matter what. Right? LOL! Yeah, right.

    It's the same way that the Republican base has been telling us for decades now that being a good, upstanding moral Christian is the foundation for presidential qualifications. Then Donald Trump came along. Suddenly, not an issue.
