Well, IDDQD and IDKFA were for the Doom games, not Quake I believe (which was "god" and "impulse 9", right?), and Heretic was a separate game based on the Doom engine. But otherwise, good story. =)

And to add to that last comment, I agree that I definitely play differently when I'm cheating. When I'm not, I am an ammo whore. I hate the idea of running out of ammo at any time, so I have a tendency to avoid the use of the powerful, ammo-hungry weapons and to do more sneaking around and sniping, even in games that are not supposted to be played like that, like Quake and Serious Sam.

So it can be alot of fun to get the weapons cheat and the health cheat sometimes and just go crazy.

  5. Re:Journalists? My ass. on On Videogame Journalism · · Score: 1

"Journalists" take themselves too seriously as far as their writing skills. By far, most magazines and newspapers are written at a 5th grade comprehension level.

Believe it or not, but this isn't as easy to do as it sounds. "Writing at a 5th grade level" is more than just using simple words, its writing clearly and effectively, and using a set formula that makes it easier to get the essential facts out of an article. Of course, I'm not saying that all journalists write like this, or even most, but it is a worthy goal.

Also, I thought most newspapers are more like a 7th-9th grade level, with the NY Times being one of the highest (in the US), with like a 10th grade level. I may be wrong, though.

Exactly... its not as if you have classes on Saturday night or anything (and if you do... God help you). I mean, if you start drinking every night, you'll probably run into some problems, but I've known people to do that and still pull out fairly good grades (not in fluffy subjects either). I mean, the parent definitely should calm down a bit.

Anyway, there would have to be major changes to our Bill of Rights before we could do either of these two things to US citizens... I remember that since Maoussawai (I just completely misspelled his name) is a US citizen, he's in a normal jail and being put on trail with a jury and everything. Do I think it's right what we're doing to the non-US-citizens in Cuba? No. But that still has nothing to do with DNA evidence received from the US Military's DNA bank of ITS OWN SOLDIERS.
