DNS is fun to learn.....but to the people who know enough to be dangerous, it can bring a network down like kryptonite and superman.

Q: Can I get a virus through AIM? How do I safely share files with AIM?
A: Viruses can't be transferred through an Instant Message itself, but it is possible that files attached to an IM may contain viruses or trojans. Also, links sent in an IM may point to webpages that contain viruses and trojans. Even if you know who is sending you a file or a link, you should use caution in opening it. Some viruses/trojans can send harmful links that appear to be from a buddy you know. You should always use good virus protection software, such as McAfee VirusScan, for automatic scanning of all attachments. See AOL Keyword: AOL Virus Protection Center for more information or visit McAfee's Website.
Another vector. Big deal....move along...nothing more to see here.
g2g..just got an IM from "37337Hax0r 06" gotta see what this dude wan...shi.uh.oh........
I wish public librarys would had an online function simliar to audible.com Since i listen to so many books, my audible bill is kinda expensive (around 50$ a month!)
id LOVE for the public library to offer an audible type service. not sure how they would do it but it would be great.
audio books are the only thing i use my ipod for. really.
also, in th epast 10 years i might have "read" 3-4 books.
in the past 2 months ive listened to 6? maybe 7?
and they were 15 hour books, davinci code, etc. everything from angels and demons to charlie and the great glass elavator.
i only listen to unabridged books and i absolutely am ADDICTED to audiobooks.
my first programming teacher would start first day of class (when i was a freshman in HS) with......if anyone can answer my next question in less than 3 seconds you get a 100 in the class.
this only works when saying it....doesnt have the effect when seeing it typed but he would say.. whats 2 plus 2 times 2. most people would say 8 right off the bat. others wouldnt say anything.

get your parents and grandparents a MythTV box. tell them to call when there is a problem or they dont understand something.
add up the money you spent on a MythTV box, setting it up, etc. etc. teaching them how to use it, then gas money, then the money you had to spend buying a TiVo to replace the mythTV box, that your parents and gradnparents actually setup themselves.
yes. i am a TiVo and mythTV user, both. the reason why TiVo does well is because of the reason i said above. my grandmother can record her soaps without having to call me or program a VCR.
if your a power user, ok, biuld a mthTV box to be cool.
Not sure why this is modded insightful when it is a totally brainless comment with no backing.
give us some examples? I'm sure there are some, but what is the reasoning behind it?
in business this is whats called venturing into vertical markets. It's sometimes GOOD for business. Ebay is a good example. Although people may disagree because its cool to hate paypal, but look at ebay and paypal? completely vertical markets, and it works.
Thats a stupid way to think about it, have you REALLY looked at the reliability factor? I have had Vonage for about 3 years and have NEVER had an outage. BUT.............my landline has been down a whole BUNCH of times, mainly from people hitting the telephone box thing in my apartment complex. But, even through storms I seem to have vonage no problems..and if in the event it ever goes out, it defaults to ring my cell phone.
and i can take it to my hotel with me when I travel...........
in my case, the options and price (i pay 14.99) really outweigh the cost and bullshit of dealing with verizon.
Sounds Silly, but I wouldn't mind a "Google Internet Suite" type thing, that had maybe a client that incorprated google desktop, picasa, IM and gmail as well as search all in one. maybe have some desktopish options like archiving locally some gmail, linking between photos/emails/IM's and files,
would definitly be powerful.
TiVo's hardware is far more superior to a MythTV box. anyone who says they can get a MythTV box up and running up to the same capacity of TiVO WITHOUT spending over 1000.00 is crazy. Granted, people already have computers, but the hardware requirements for MythTV compared to the price of a 250$ tivo and EVEN a 300$ lifetime membership (which I know..only covers for the life of the unit) still outweigh the costs of building a MthTV box.
granted there is the whole "trust" issue as its not "free" software
What CIO? haha
I can't WAIT until your kids get older and rebel.
MONEY.
BARS have been doing this with BEER for a WHILE and it seems to work...why not music?

Does it tell me ANYTHING I can't find by going to the help menu?
I hate technical books that tell me less information than was initially provided in the "help" section.
in firefox (i just looked) there is even "for IE users" seperate section.
