One time I accidentally dropped a floppy from about 2 inches above the desk, and yet it still worked! (although I did have to completely reformat, losing the data already on it)

In this case, it breaks down into diatomic oxygen (whereas ozone is triatomic).I think that counts as dissipating.
There was a/. article about this recently, pointing out that the average Unix sysadmin costs more than the average Windows guy, but he can also manage more. So two windows experts do the same work as one Unix guy, but the Unix one costs more.
(I don't remember the final ratio of cost/work done for the two different guys, but I think they were fairly close).
First off, he wasn't calling anyone who was against the war a weak-willed moral relativist. He was calling anyone who was against the war because of the fact that it would destroy an ancient artifact a weak-willed moral relativist.
As for the national security thing, there is evidence that Saddam is trying to get a nuke. Once he gets it, all he has to do is stick it in a boat and park it next to Long Island. Even if he doesn't, there is ample evidence that Saddam has been supporting terrorism financially. Even if he isn't, there is still the fact that he murders countless numbers of his own citizens, and steals food we try to give the Iraqi people, so he can build huge palaces all over the country.
Now we know that he has violated, what, 14 or so UN resolutions about disarming? But hey, he's harmless right? Just like Hitler was harmless in making a bigger army going against WW1 treaty? I mean, the US is such a hypocrite because we have such a big army, but still prevent other people from having it...right?
Is there any way to factor a huge number with DNA computers? Similar to how that travelling salesman problem was solved, you could put every prime encoded into DNA, add em together in a test tube where they will all be magically multiplied:P, and look for the number you want.
Seems about as plausible as this article anyway...

No, pi is more like 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375 10582097494459230781640628620899862803482534211706 7... (like you have anything better to do in math class than memorize digits of pi.)
WineX problems? Only problem I've had is the taskbar (or whatever it is in X:P) appearing on resolution higher than 800x600. Then again I had the same problem with Counter Strike so I don't think its their fault.
Yeah, what are those jerks doing trying to protect their own software before it is even officially released to the public??
Just remember that until War3 beta, Blizzard didn't touch BNetd. It was only because it was being used so so very widely for the beta that they fought it. I agree they shouldn't have brought out the DMCA thing, but I'm guessing it was Vivendi's lawyers that did that (but hey, maybe Microsoft will buy em out, then they'll be all good again, right?)
Only reason anyone buys stuff online is because it is marked down enough to cover shipping...shipping+tax means its more or as expensive as retail stores, so there is no reason to buy there...
This seems like a really bad time for this with the economy in the crapper...
Yeah just like that light bulb in your room...it doesn't use the full wattage of your house electricity so it's going to explode...right?
OK seriously though, just don't generate this information and you'll be good to go. My video card doesn't seem to have melted yet with this 2D monitor...come to think of it, if I unplug my monitor and make it 0D, it doesn't seem to melt either...
Why should you be worried?

Imagine a Beowulf cluster of this story... By the end of the day you won't have to imagine.
Someone has WAY too much time on their hands...then again I'm posting to /., so who am I to talk?

Have these people not heard of the words "fair use"?

What are you, some sort of nerd who goes around memorizing e? Everyone knows all the cool people memorize pi!
:P
So no, I don't know e to more than a few (10)
"...pi should be exactly 22/7."

I like how you included the copyright in that copy paster :P
Game theory, anyone?
Uh....yeah...that's why the lawsuit happened.
Unless you mean that it wasn't actually the bnetd servers, just their code, but in that case you still know whay I meant.

Its in the first post there.
No, unlike most Blizzard expansions, Europe/worldwide applications WILL be accepted.
Unfortunately they're killing MY chance of getting one...
It will hurt online sales :(

Anyone know when the GeForce FX is scheduled to come out? I looked for it but couldn't find a release date/window
Trying to decide if I should buy the GeForce4 Ti4200 now or when the FX ships and ths price drops...
Its a third person shooter, not first, and although Nihilistic is doing most of the work, Blizzard is still watching it closely.
Also, Nihilistic was started by a group a programmers that left Blizzard after working on StarCraft.
Right now verizon has unlimited data access on some of their 3G phones for $99/month (+talking minutes)
It only averages about 60kbps though...
For more information, just walk into a RadioShack

Very good point :)
