You realize that something will upconvert whether its your DVD or not right? Its either you DVD player, your receiver, or your TV. And if you have a $35 dvd player it probably uses the same $3 chip that your receiver and TV both have.
A decent upconverting DVD player (Look at Oppo players) will do a much better job but its still not Bluray.
If you have decent speakers the audio alone on Bluray makes it worth it and the increased resolution is just extra goodness.
Just curious? I'm wondering what kind of PHP software would use floating point as an input. I'm trying to think of all the PHP stuff I run at home and at work and can't think of a single instance. (MediaWiki, Ampache, Gallery, Bugzilla).
I know that there is complete access to the system now (not going through hypervisor), but are there Linux video drivers yet? I __REALLY__ want to have XBMC on my PS3.
The Volt will be awesome. 90% of the time it is an electric vehicle. People are whining about it using gas to directly drive the front wheels. At least the option is there. The other option is pull over and charge up. I'm sure the engineers did it for a reason (like its needed or more efficient).
Quit bitching. This is progress. Seems like they were looking for anything to complain about.
Its hard to tell how high the craft actually is because of the use of the wide angle. When its tumbling around up high and the camera goes upside down you can see the curvature of the earth inverted. Pretty weird looking. In fact, on its way down where you can still make out trees and stuff, there seems to be a curvature.
I'm not saying they shouldn't have used wide-angle, indeed they should have for something like this. Its just a little misleading.
The surveillance station.wolf_station.jpg At a wall in the game you see twelve screens that each show a different location of the level. This can be used by the player to get a tactical gaming advantage. Have you ever seen something similiar in a current game? Again - probably not.
Uhm.... Counter Strike had this in one of its levels like 10 years ago.
If you look beyond the word sheep, you'll see I am making a point.
Apple wouldn't need to lock you into the App Store exclusively on OSX to make money. Hopefully people never click on those pop-ups for installing smiley faces on their computer but Apple fans wouldn't think twice for shelling out $3 to get a nice set of smileys for whatever their mail program is called if it came from iTunes instead of a popup.
For the their phones, you will never be allowed to install unapproved apps.
The summary and article seem biased (although the article does mention the iPhone app store too). All of the apps on Android tell you what they have access to and there might be a good reason for it. The summary makes it seem bad that applications know where you are but that might be a central part to the application (foursquare, google maps, google sky maps, yelp etc. Also, a lot of ad supported apps need location to serve you regional advertisements.
If Apple had an App Store for OSX but also allowed you to install stuff from alternative sources, they would still make a killing on all those sheep who would pay $0.99 to change their own desktop wallpaper to a photo they took themselves.

I don't see what there is to fix. The nice thing about an open platform is that you can install anything you want. Just un-check the box that only lets you install from trusted sources. The article simply said "Once it's installed on the Android phone". Later on it said it ran as a kernel module. I bet this is only installable voluntarily by someone with a rooted phone anyway and I say if the user wants to install a root-kit, let them install a root-kit.
Hmm, downloading a.apk file from a website... lets see.

I learned django with "Practical Django Projects" when it first came out. Even that book was obsolete to the point that you couldn't get through the book. I actually had to learn the obsoleted version because I ran into a wall every chapter. After learning it I had to learn what changed in version 1.0
Django is about packaging an ORM, templating system, and URL dispatching based on regular expression matching. If slashdot doesn't use an object relational mapper or a templating system, then its probably more like web.py

I've had nothing but problems getting things to play on PS3.
Things need to be in the right container / audio codec / video codec, bitrate, etc.
I know that there is complete access to the system now (not going through hypervisor), but are there Linux video drivers yet?

yeah.... I miss the vertical pipe too
Shouldn't the headline read "Ubuntu Dumps X For Wayland On Unity"?

There IS NO REINSTALLING ROOTKIT!!!!
Don't you get it? It is simply WRITE PROTECTED with REDIRECTED WRITES!

This is hogwash.
First of all, its not one language when you count all the PHP, Java / JSP, ASP, Python, Perl, Tcl etc that runs on the server.
Second of all, that one language should be Python FTW.

Once we get off oil we'll be using solar power, wind power, and unicorn farts to charge up our lithium batteries.
20 years from now you'll hear them saying, we need to get rid of our dependence on foreign lithium.
