It could be possible to get the Oxgen an Hydrogen from sources other than water, some sort of metastable source(s). Then it is possible to get more energy out than you put in even with inefficiency because, for your part, it's not a full cycle. The same is the case for petroleum. It doesn't take more energy the drill, pump, refine, and transport it than we get by burning it.
Knowing more about evolution than most does not necessarily mean you know much about it. Knowing more than the people you know means nothing to those of us who don't know the people you know and amounts to mere anecdotal evidence. "Evolution is simply a theory." Written like a true non-scientist.
UC Davis' campus is not Nuclear Free, however. Since the Crocker Nuclear Lab does not actually sit on Davis City land, I'd guess the sign might be correct, if it weren't for the fact that every atom in Davis has a nucleus.
Similar to the time when USAToday reported in 1997 that the Whitbread Cup boat Silk Cut broke the monohull speed record by sailing 449.26 knots! What they meant was 449.26 miles in 24 hours. I'd link to the story but you'd have to pay for it.
I don't want to drive a clean, fast electric car...
N.B. electric cars are not clean. They just transfer the polution to the electric plant which supplies them. More efficient than combustion? Maybe, but no more so than said electric plant.
that global warming is caused or accelerated by human activity, however a plausible mechanism has been put forth: we produce C02 etc. which allow short wavelenghts in but trap IR. Fine. Is that the only mechanism at work? What about the particulate matter that is released by man that is highly reflective and may raise the Earth's albedo? Perhaps the net effect of man is to cool the planet. The earth is on a natural warming trend. I have no references but saw plots to this effect in a class I took on Global warming from BCs Geophysics dept. The question is how much does man contribute to that trend. Those plots didn't show conclusively that man was having any effect, but that in no way proves that we aren't. So what do we do? Mine is just a lowly opinion, but I think it's wise to err on the side of the conservative and do what we can to limit emmissions of greenhouse gasses.

Those videos go well with techno music. Very Herbie Hancock
Sorry, no mermaids or minotaurs. G.W. forbade the creation of human animal hybrids.

I guess this means these guys are wrong :-(
We'll have to wait a lot longer for the Star Trek dream.
Just remember all of the stink about re-introducing wolves to Yellowstone. Lions are a lot scarier than wolves.
Here at our multi-billion dollar refinery in Fairbanks, we're extracting 2.5 billion barrels of crude oil each day from teenagers' faces

I searched vitrification in Google and got this site. It's informative (if not biased) and contains info on waste management.

That's why it comes equipped with Life Alert(R)
A virus is what we doctors call very very small. So small in fact it could not possible have made off with an entire leg.
Lucky for them they didn't have a large store of ammonium perchlorate go up. Remember this explosion in NV in '88
Someone should buy it, bring it down, and use it to spy on the girl nexdoor.
It won't be long before they can splice some chalk, a beard, and a piece of cheese.
That's if she intentionally charged it while wearing it on the subway or if the saftey malfunctioned.

Diamond coated surfaces may display low friction coefficients due to the lack of shearing on the molecular scale at the interface of such objects.
You could play who can stay on their feet the longest.

It probably wouldn't work for Greta "Lips" Van Susteren
